2023.03.13 21:07 TheRealRockJule Weirdcore Type Games List
I found a handwritten list I made a while back concerning games having the aesthetic and the vibes of Weirdcore. Here's a list of the games on my list I've created.
Please note: Some of the games will only include wiki links due to the fact that to run them you need to emulate them and find the ROM for them yourself (I do not want to get sued)
Please leave suggestions in the comments, Thank you.

2023.01.23 00:14 mortimerrylon [Fully Lost] "All Grown Up" Live Action RV Race Promo/Bumper/Special
On October 10th, 2005, (Columbus Day, apparently) 6-year-old me was very excited to watch a new 2-part special episode of
All Grown Up (The
Rugrats spinoff) entitled "
R.V. Having Fun Yet?". Not so much for the actual show, but because during the commercial breaks, they were showing a real family racing a real R.V. against a professional cyclist, runner, another R.V., and finally, a racecar driver. I believe I was able to stay up late enough to watch them go off against the cyclist and the runner, but presumably after the first half of the hour-long 2-parter my parents said it was bedtime. I asked them to please let me stay up and see the end, to which they responded "Don't worry, it'll probably be on TV again."
It wasn't, and my petty inner-child has never forgotten this. I've been lurking on this community for a while now, and finally decided to go on my own quest. I've found plenty of evidence of the episodes (part 1 and 2), but no reference whatsoever to the promo/bumpespecial or whatever you want to call it.
Here are the relevant sources I've managed to dig up:
-
Nickelodeon's schedule for October 10th, 2005. The 1-hour block is listed, but no mention of the races. -
This ad for the episode. Also no mention of the races, but I seem to remember being excited for them because Nickelodeon advertised them at some point. -
This DVD menu featuring the episode and a related game, but no mention of the races.
I suppose it's possible these live action segments were shown on a different date during a re-airing of the episode, but this seems unlikely. I remember my bedtime rage too vividly to have imagined it it all. Does anyone else remember it?

2023.01.14 03:38 Somerandomdeude1886 The minor discourse in the Hey Arnold! Fandom (you may not have even heard of this before)
WARNING: This reddit post exposes some of the minor discourse in the Hey Arnold! fandom, and may show some differing opinions. As such, PLEASE AVOID FLAME WARS OR OPINION BASHING AT ALL COSTS! UNDERSTAND THAT EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN OPINIONS
Hey Arnold's fandom has been mostly pretty solid. Most of the fans seem to appreciate the entire series (Except for a few bad episodes) as well as the first movie (Which was excellent in my opinion and maybe would have been successful if they kept it a tv film instead of releasing it theatrically) And many fans also seem to appreciate the Jungle Movie (Which feels kinda strange to me, but its my opinion) However, this doesn't mean there isn't any internal conflict within the fandom. Since you just can't please everyone all the time, there are a few things that cause slight breakage in the Hey Arnold! Fandom. It's nowhere near as well known, prevalent or obvious as Rugrats' split fandom (Seasons 4-9, aka post first cancellation, Dil and/or Kimi, All Grown Up, and the 2021 Reboot are the four biggest breakers of the fanbase, the only one i personally have negative opinions on is the 2021 reboot, mainly because it takes place in an alternate universe, but its just my opinion) Again, most fans like the entire series of Hey Arnold! and think the entire series was excellent (Well, except for a few bad episodes). This doesn't mean there aren't a few fans who believe that the show had a "decline in quality." Trust me, there are some fans who do. There's even a reddit post talking about the show's supposed "decline". They say that around season 4, the show "went downhill" and even going as far as saying those seasons are "bad" (Automatically making Helga on the Couch a bad episode). Reasons for that they say are the switch to digital ink and paint (bruh), Arnold's voice actor being criticized, his change in character being criticized as well, Episodes like Monkey Man being similar to Pigeon Man, the intro change, and some moments they don't like. However, I COMPLETELY disagree on this. First of all, I think the switch to Digital Ink and Paint is an unwarranted reason to say the show went downhill, the animation still looks excellent (unlike Modern SpongeBob), especially the softer shading, and it looks excellent. And i prefer neither cel nor digital ink and paint. Some people may prefer cel animation because they are used to it, like the way it looks (which is an entierly subjective thing) or because of its perceived charm, but that doesn't necessarily make digital bad. In fact, in my opinion the later episodes are the ones that have the better animation, especially compared to season 1 (which has lower quality animation overall compared to the rest of the series, as well as some early installment weirdness, but is still a great season though). Another problem with the digital ink and paint argument was that the intro had ALWAYS been digital ink and paint, so by that logic the intro would have been "bad" too (well some of the colors are odd like Rhonda looking so pale) Spencer Klein does seem to be a little bit flatter in season 4, but as his voice deepened in season 5, his performance improved (though Alex D. Linz did a great job in the final episodes produced). Arnold's change in character had been criticized by some, some even called him a "Gary stu", even though he isn't one, and there was an episode to explain it as well (deconstructing arnold), which was excellent. I know Monkey man and Pigeon Man had similarities, and so did Partners and Part time Friends, they had differences too, and similarities. Some could even argue that Stoop Kid and Pigeon Man have some similarities as well. and yes Love and Cheese being similar to Operation Ruthless, even though that was the intention, it was mean to be a sequel episode. Or of someone saw the episode Eugene Eugene and thought, "That episode involves a play, it's basically repeating School Play", which by that logic School Play would be repeating Downtown as Fruits, even though none of their plots are the same nor even similar. The intro change just changed the music a little bit (and fixed an animation error), i may prefer the 1996 version (Audio wise), but the 1999 version is also great as well. There are some moments i am not the biggest fan in literally every season. Some people say that the show only declined slightly in season 5, but i don't fully agree with that either. I even saw one person saying their favorite season was the first season and their least favorite was the fifth season, which implies that the show had a "decline" starting with the show's SECOND SEASON???? However, there are also fans who believe the show got better in its later years (like myself personally), especially in character development. As well as not just focusing on Arnold, and beefing up all the other characters to make them feel more realistic (Which again, could also be cited as a reason for the show's supposed "decline") The show continuing to feel relatable and realistic as well, continuing with the emotional parts in it, as well as continuing with the character driven plots the show has always been known for. My opinions on Hey Arnold! is that all of the seasons are excellent, the show never had a decline in my opinion (Well maybe with Arnold Betrays Iggy, but the show recovered so well afterwards), and the show should have ran longer, and maybe still be excellent as it always had been. The show had hardly any issue with flanderization (though those miraheze wikis tended to hate Sid starting from season 3, even though i completely disagree. Besides, i am not a fan of those wikis since they present opinions as facts, they are extremely biased, and they can be hypocritical.) and the only times flanderization came, all it did was make characters more major, and just benefited the series instead. Hey Arnold! also feels so relatable and had great morals. I have seen pretty much the entire series and I thought that most of it was excellent. Again this is just my opinion and if you completely disagree, I respect your opinions. Remember everyone has their own opinions, but this shouldn't be too much of an issue since most of the Hey Arnold! fandom seems to appreciate most of the series. It's still a reminder that it's okay to disagree with someone on a cartoon, and that you can't expect everyone to agree with you.

2023.01.04 21:32 Ling_B I get this strange "dead" feeling when I watch the older episodes of this show...
This is sort of a sequel to my "Why is this show often forgotten about?" discussion, which I would recommend reading before continuing to this post:
https://www.reddit.com/fairlyoddparents/comments/xm9xi1/why_is_this_show_often_forgotten_about/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 I don't know why... but whenever I watch the older episodes of this show, I get the feeling of remembering someone who is no longer in my life anymore (whether they're dead, lost, or just gone).
It's... a different kind of nostalgia. I have a similar feeling when I rewatch the first three seasons of SpongeBob SquarePants, and I'm starting to feel the same way about Rugrats. The CGi reboot of Rugrats, the modern episodes of both shows, and the spin offs, feel almost like corpses of people who were once amazing to me. Though with FOP, something about it feels tragic.
I'm still upset with how the show was just completely brutalized from what it once was, but at the same time, I'm a little shocked at the fact that it ran for as long as it did. I've been looking at both official and older fan artwork recently, and the series definitely looks like a 90s or 2000s cartoon show. It has a blatant stylization from that era. It's hard for me to look at this show and say "this was still going on until 2017". It looks like a show that would've ended around at least the late 2000s.
I recently found a fan wiki that portrayed all of the characters 20 years later. I'm not really a fan of Zartist2017's work, but looking at this made me think about how these characters probably grew up and have entirely different lives now (let's pretend the Drake Bell trilogy is uncanon)... and the show sort of had the concept of growing up as an ongoing theme that was just poorly executed by the final seasons, especially with the live action content, and then episodes got worse, with the show practically asking for itself to die with how many characters it kept adding, rather than reutilizing previous ones. I still feel like there was wasted potential.
I've seen some of the voice actors from this show in person too at conventions, and seeing people who portrayed these characters in a series I watched as a child gave me this feeling even moreso.
I tried showing my younger nieces this show, and they seem to not really like it. In fact anytime I try to show them a cartoon series that I grew up with, that many people my age fondly remember enjoying as kids, they don't like it. They wanna watch Bluey or toy videos or episodic modern cartoons that have bad reception from critics, and are clearly inferior in quality and effort.
I think that, the lack of merchandise and representation compared to other classic nicktoons, the controversy involving Butch Hartman, the show's extreme decline in quality, and the new live action series that no one cares about really make things feel... lost, or broken in my eyes. Maybe I'm being over dramatic and emotional over a kids cartoon, just that's just how I feel.

2022.12.24 01:43 Haunting_Tale_5150 [Parades] The 1997 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade - the Great Balloon Massacre
Bye, bye Barney Information and footage came from the following:
brdreach,
the official broadcast (recorded by Major League Pong Gods),
Delhi the cat,,
Beavis and Butthead (recorded by wny_vad13), and the
Thanksgiving Parade wiki Many online may have seen this infamous footage of Barney popping at one of the Macy's Thanksgiving day parades, spread around annually as sort of a Thanksgiving/Holiday tradition. However, little may know that Barney was not the only balloon causality the day of the recording. In fact, Barney isn't even the most infamous balloon that popped. This is the story of the 1997 Thanksgiving Day parade and how it changed Thanksgiving Parade history forever.
Setting the stage
In 1924, Macy's had their first official parade, where employees dressed in vibrant costumes to delight families in New York, which proved to be a large success. Ever since then, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has been running with constant changes, with a variety large balloons and floats based on famous children's films and shows, inclusion of a variety of celebrity guests and singers, a showcase of broadway musicals for guests waiting, and a few "legacy" balloons and characters from the parade's early days lovingly recreated.
1997 was a landmark year for the Macy's Parade, it was the 71st annual run, the last run of host Willard Scott before his retirement and the last appearance of Lamb Chop host Shari Lewis before her passing. It should have been another fun and magical year for the parade, however rough winds prevented it from being so. The night before the parade was set to travel along its route, the Garfield balloon's tail deflated and the legacy Flying Fish balloon was shredded to pieces. These two events were just a premonition of what awaited the balloons the next day.
The Great Balloon Massacre
When the 1997 parade was recorded, the winds were gusting over 35 miles per hour, which lead to many problems for the balloon handlers.
The first balloon to go was Sonic the Hedgehog after it hit a lamp post, the second time that balloon popped in such a manner. The next was Arthur, who's ear popped after hitting a row of lamp posts, then the Quik bunny. However all these balloons do not hold a candle to the disaster that followed.
The next balloon that was affected was The Cat in the Hat, unlike the other balloons that just simply popped and left some debris, the Cat in the Hat knocked over a lamppost, which fell to the ground and injured four people. Most notably, the falling lamppost critically injured a woman named Kathleen Caronna who was in a coma for a month due to the impact of the lampost and the debris. The hat then began to deflate due to the impact of the lamppost. Many spectators further down on the parade route were unaware of what events had previously happened, such as Delhi the Cat's family, leaving people confused on how the Cat's head deflated until the news broke in the papers. After the incident with The Cat, Macy's pulled back several balloons, such as Eben Bear due to safety concerns. However, there were still a good amount of balloons on the route after the incident, which lead to many more troubles along the parade's route.
The balloon handlers notably struggled to keep the balloons safely along the route due to the heavy winds, with the Pink Panther swaying all around the crowd. After the Panther was under control, Barney the Dinosaur infamously popped after striking a lamppost and had to be stabbed down by police officers. Reportedly many "Barney haters" began saying offensive things to the handlers due to the mass dislike towards the Barney character, causing some of the handlers to yell back. However, some "Barney lovers" encouraged on the handlers, chanting Barney's name as his deflated body was moved off the parade route and packaged into a square.
After that, the Pink Panther balloon continued to struggle and collapse until it collided into multiple lamp posts. The Quik bunny then collided into an obstacle, causing the team to have to deflate it the same way Barney was, with his ear being caught on a directional sign for hours. Many balloon handlers from the deflated balloons were moved to other balloons in order to help other handlers deal with the wind, causing a mishmash of rainbow colors across the parade's route. However, thanks to the additional help, the Rugrats balloon made it through the parade mostly unscathed, with only a small hole appearing on the side of Chuckie's shorts.
However, there were still three more incidents along the parade's route before the parade finished. The Bumpe the bull balloon had his left leg damaged, causing balloon handlers to wonder "who did it now?" The snowman falloon's (a mix of float and balloon) head detached and fell off before it could go on screen. By the time it appeared it was too late and the cast of the All New Captain Kangaroo had to perform on a detached snowman float on live TV. The last falloon to go through the parade was Paddington bear, who thankfully went through mostly unscaved after collapsing multiple times.
Only two balloons made it through the route totally undamaged at the end of the 1997 Macy's Parade: Big Bird and Peter Rabbit.
Aftermath
In 2001 Kathleen Caronna sued Macy's for $3.5 million dollars (that's roughly 5,510,525.85 dollars in today's money) in damages, however it was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount. New regulations were made after the 1997 parade in order to prevent balloon accidents from happening often, if not eliminate them outright. Starting in 1998, large balloons were pulled by two utility tractors as well as a handlepilot expansion. There was also a new strict size limit put on the balloons, balloons now had to be no larger than 70 feet in height, 78 feet in length, or 40 feet in width. This caused many larger and popular balloons that didn't fit the regulations or couldn't be pulled with the tractors to become permanently retired. Interestingly, the infamous Cat in the Hat balloon met the new regulations, however the balloon was promptly banned from the parade following what had happened in 1997.
In 2005, another serious incident similar to the Cat in the Hat accident occurred when the M&M's balloon hit a lightpole, which struck two sisters. The balloon was not banned afterwards due to the request of the sisters, however more safety regulations were put in place, such as installing wind measurement devices, keeping balloons closer to the ground during heavy winds, and prohibiting giant balloons from flying during rainy weather, winds higher than 23 mph, and/or gusts higher than 34 mph. Since these safety measures been created, there have been less balloon incidents in the parade and none as tragic as the Cat in the Hat incident.
Since the 1997 parade ended, it has become infamous within the Macy's Parade fandom, who had coined it as "The Great Balloon Massacre" and many fan videos, tributes, and recordings had been made to document the day's events. Of course, the parade will also always live on in the hearts of many unaware of the larger scope of the events as the day Barney died.

2022.11.06 00:38 DingDingDensha Did any of us know this woman IRL?
Some of us might be familiar with the Rugrats cartoon. I always sort of wondered if the character who played
Phil and Lil's mother was a stereotype of busy mothers who actually existed in the late 80s, early 90s. Did you know them? Were they your friend's mom? Your aunt? An older sister? Someone you worked with?
I love thinking about this now, since "athleisure" is such a thing. If you go out in a pair of track pants and a sweatshirt to the grocery store, does it make you the same as the bizzy 80s mom, ever decked out in aerobics gear wherever she went...without, apparently, ever actually going to the gym or for a run, etc? Just a fun question for the weekend!

Was driving the speed limit in a 30 mph zone with the windows down, and a car I saw weaving in and out of traffic behind me did not appreciate my speed as they apparently had somewhere to be. As they drove past me they made sure to lay on the horn long enough for me to consider rolling up my windows. As an aspie sensitive to noise this really affected me and I’m still thinking about it days later.
The statement should be obvious by now but having been orange-pilled only recently, the ideas from fuckcars are more apparent than ever.
I mean can you imagine a situation like this happening in a grocery store? Where someone screams at the top of their lungs to someone else because they were not moving quickly enough?

2022.10.24 20:44 BlancheFromage TDay2: Little by little, the SGI fakes become more and more similar to each other
The sockpuppeteer over at SGIWhistleblowersMITA doesn't seem to have much imagination, as the sockpuppets she creates share so many unusual characteristics:
- They ALL love and reference musicals and movies from the 1950s-early 1970s
- Characters and events are described by referencing movies or songs instead of by citing the kinds of realistic details that cause REAL characters and events to become realized as fully-fledged individuals within the storyline - they're all pale shades of favorite/famous movie actors/scenes or cinematic/literary tropes attempted to be brought to life
- They have a weird clinical approach to sexuality #gimmedatHowToManual #brightlightsPowerpointpresentation #xaminemyjunk
- They can't keep each other's names straight
- They can't keep their OWN names straight
- Weird sex negativity coupled with pervcore kink
- Anachronistic negativity toward profanity while routinely posting obnoxiously TMI disclosures apparently for the sole purpose of creating awkwardness and making the reader uncomfortable
We were in the holding hands and light touching phase of our relationship. "Guy" 😑
Mystery S [a topic beginning with "s"]. Not too hard to figure out. We are newlyweds! "Xenia" 🤢
And slobbery sex? What if my wife and I like it? Should I be thrown off this board because I like a bit of kink in my krackers? Sockpuppeteer 🤮
- Break out in hives at the sight of the word "cunt" even while describing the most disturbing and alarming sexual scenarios #prudish + #libertine + #frontierschoolmarm
- They make incomprehensible personal decisions
- They make terrible financial decisions - the oldsters ditch their farm for an RV, and then an affluent couple ditches THEIR "fancy house" for a shitty-ass cramped and overcrowded trailer that will only fall apart without ever gaining any value at all - not an "asset", NOT how to build wealth
- They all talk the same; there is no indication of generational slang or inside jokes between the ones who are the same age and the ones who are decades younger than the others (no code switching)
- They use the same repetitive phrases - also here and here
- They use anachronistic old-fashioned expressions #suregranny #immyowngrandpa
I'm eating humble pie for life lunch, Andy. - "Guy", supposedly age 27/28
If you hadn't been
informed that "Guy" and "Julie" were in their mid-20s, you'd think they were elderly.
Here are things that were popular when "Julie" and "Guy" were kids that they show
no awareness of:
TV Cartoons:
Live Action Shows:
Online:
...among others. "Julie" and "Guy" don't have
anything that shows they're even
AWARE of these that were HUGE influences on kids "their" supposed age (27/28) growing up; instead, "they" reference films and shows from the 1950s-1970s,
well before "they" were supposedly born:
We just discovered something new we have in common. We both love Broadway musicals, especially the classics. Who knew?!? At dinner last night I sang several of my favorite songs from Guys and Dolls. - "Julie"
At any rate, back in the trailer we talked about some more wedding plans and we decided to have a "Guys & Dolls" theme. Why not? We have off this afternoon and evening so we are going to look at some second-hand clothing stores here and see if we can come up with a Miss Adelaide's wedding dress and some type of Sky Masterson suit. - "Julie"
Yesterday we went to local thrift shops to find my "Adelaide" wedding dress and Guy's "Sky Masterson" (aka Marlon Brando) suit for our wedding. - "Julie"
"Guys & Dolls" is from 1955 😳
Nearly 40
years before they were born, but well within the sockpuppeteer's childhood.
- They praise each other incessantly and in an exaggeratedly over-the-top manner that's embarrassing:
But what a jewel and marvel Julie is! How she shakes the ground and sheds sunlight all around her! - "Eulogio" 🤮
she's a powerhouse who could cut through steel with a single glance. - "Julie" 🙄
- They're all obsessed with downvotes - I was on reddit for over 2 years before I understood how voting works here
- They don't talk to strangers!
- Only the female characters get any development
- Duplicate ages for the couples: 27/27 + 34/34 (fewer separate details to keep track of, I suppose)
- Abusive, predatory, borderline man-hating behavior and talk - #bendoverilldrive #coercivesex #youlldowhatisay #theyreALLmybottombitches #allaboutMEEEE
- Routine boundary violations normalized
- All only children
- No non-SGI-involved family members
- No friends outside of SGI
- No personal history (friends from high school etc.) despite having supposedly grown up in this area
- All the reproductive-stage sockpuppets either have daughters or WANT daughters
- When the sockpuppeteer is busy, they ALL go silent
- They all love and/or speak and/or want to learn German
- They share an inexplicable obsession with lame 1980s German band Nena
This reminds me of the 99 Luftballons song by the German artist Nena that I play for an hour or two every day to keep me sane. - "Julie", supposedly age 28, born 11 years after that song was released
- They ALL live in or near the trailer park or want to live in the trailer park #lifegoalz #idealhousingsitch #gimmedathomelessadjacent
More examples available upon request.

2022.10.11 21:45 BigSexyGuy22 Top 20 Highest Viewed Cartoon Network Telecasts
This year is Cartoon Network 30th Anniversary and for 30 years, Cartoon Network has brought us 30 years of classic animated shows that have inspired generations of people. With Cartoon Network being around for 30 years, there have been millions of fans of Cartoon Network all around the internet and some of these people are so passionate for the network, so much so that they have archived VHS tapes, DVDs, and have even created a wiki that archives Cartoon Network’s schedule, logos, pictures and many more, but something that I haven’t seen people preserve or acknowledge that much when it comes to Cartoon Network is its ratings. If you go to Wikipedia, you can find the Top 50 Highest Viewed Telecasts/Premieres of both Nickelodeon and Disney Channel, all well archived and public for everyone to view, however, I noticed there was nothing for Cartoon Network. I wondered why this was especially for a guy like me that has not only grown up on Cartoon Network and appreciates it, but also is fascinated with statistics and data such as TV Ratings, Album Sales and Box Office Numbers. So I decided to go online and search all over the internet in order to collect all of Cartoon Network’s Top 20 Highest Viewed Telecasts. I would like to state that creating this was really hard, because something that people don’t acknowledge that much about Cartoon Network is that its ratings have always been pretty LOW compared to Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Disney Channel highest viewed telecast is High School Musical 2 in August of 2007 with almost 18 million viewers and Nickelodeon highest viewed telecast was the 10th anniversary special for Rugrats “All Growed Up” in 2001 with almost 12 million viewers. So being able to find 10 of the highest viewed telecasts for Cartoon Network was hard enough, especially considering the fact that Cartoon Network viewership peak was probably in the early 2010's around 2010 to 2013, when the network was receiving at least 2 to 3 million viewers consistently, while Nickelodeon and Disney Channel viewers peak was from 2007 to 2011 when both network had shows that were reaching between 4-6 million viewers per episode. It took me about 2 months in order to find these highest viewed telecasts, so I would really appreciate the feedback and comments from you guys on what you think about these shows. Have you seen any of these specials or episodes when they came out? Also don’t take this as 100% fact, like I said it was really hard to find a lot of this data and I tried as seriously as I could to be accurate, but Cartoon Network’s ratings are hard to find compared to Disney and Nick’s ratings. It is especially sad knowing that none of these numbers will ever be topped again considering the decline in cable subscriptions and rise of streaming. Also if you want to see the highest viewed premieres for both Nick and Disney Channel, I’ll put it later on this post. Enjoy reading and let me know what you think. Sources will also be in the post. Also you might be shocked to know that 4 of these highest viewed telecasts are live action movies based on cartoons. Top 20 Highest Viewed Cartoon Network Telecasts:

2022.10.11 11:17 BigSexyGuy22 Top 20 Highest Viewed Cartoon Network Telecasts
2022.04.13 17:36 which1umean Reference to speaking into a clown's mouth at a drive-thru
This is driving me crazy.
In The Raincoats, Jerry refers to the idea of speaking into a clown's mouth at a drive-through.
Conversational Distance, don't you hate these people that talk to you they talk into your mouth like you're a clown at a drive-through
I remember a cartoon with something like that, where the customer speaks into its big open mouth. Sort of similar to
a shot from the 2007 movie "Drive-Thru" which is obviously later than the Seinfeld reference. (I also remember it being a cartoon...)
I thought it might be from The Simpson's, but
Krusty's head is well above where the person would be talking, and a speaker is shown in the center of the board.
There's also Jack-in-the-Box, but from my googling it looks like the clown is a little doll that you talk toward, not a big head you speak
into, which is what Seinfeld seems to be referencing and what I remember seeing.
I also thought it might be from Rugrat's, but nothing comes up on Google that looks appropriate.
Anyone have any idea where this drive-through clown head is that you speak directly into its mouth?

2022.02.08 02:39 donniekeller Does anybody know any footage of Nickelodeon Splat City from Three Paramount Parks?
From Wikipedia:
Nickelodeon Splat City was a themed area inside of
California's Great America (1995–2002),
Kings Island (1995–2000), and
Kings Dominion (1995–1999). It was based on many
Nickelodeon shows, such as
Double Dare), which had attractions that involved getting wet or messy.
- Green Slime Zone: An attraction that involved guests navigating a maze of pipework that randomly burst with water, and in the early years, green tinted water. The maze still stands at one theme park, California's Great America, named Snoopy's Splash Dance.
- Green Slime Transfer Truck: A truck that featured water hoses, video screens, and various levers and buttons triggering water bursts. The truck was also added at the Nickelodeon Studios, but was different than the one at Splat City (minus water hoses and video screens). The one at the Studios was used as a setting for U-Dip segments on Nick in the Afternoon, the one at Splat City looked similar to the Studios' Slime Geyser.
- Emergency Slime Shower and Slime Pit: A slime-dripping shower that poured Slime on those who pressed its lever. The shower was located over a large pit of Green Slime, and Slime often poured from the sides and top of the tower. The one located at California's Great America still stands, albeit with a new paint job.
- Crystal Slime Aerobic Mining Maze: An obstacle course that was like play areas at Chuck E. Cheese's
- Big Rig GS-1: A large Oil Rig that spewed water every 15 minutes. Two of them still stand today, each with new color schemes (and one with a Wild Thornberrys theme).
- Slime Bowl: A large theater that featured shows with Nicktoons and game shows. The following shows ran in the Slime Bowl Theater before the respective areas were converted to Nickelodeon Central.
- 1995–1996: Mega Mess-a-Mania - A messy show that took elements from Double Dare, You Can't Do That on Television, and What Would You Do?, and combined them together into one messy game show experience. The finale of the show involved Green Slime being shot out of portions of the set, as well as three "Slime Towers" located in the audience seating area. This show was taped exclusively to sell to the audience of the show.
- 1997: More Mega Mess-a-Mania - the sequel to the previous show, this edition features more Nicktoon-inspired games and content, and featured characters such as Krumm, Ickis, and Oblina from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters and Angelica from Rugrats.
- 1998: Nicktoons Block Party - A brand new show which featured games and performances based on popular Nicktoons at that time. The set featured a large cityscape in which characters would pop out of windows and doors on stage. The show featured characters like Tommy, Chuckie, and Angelica from Rugrats, and Norbert and Daggett from The Angry Beavers.
- 1999: Nicktoons Rockin Countdown - A New Year's Eve/Millennium themed version of the previous show complete with a simulated "ball drop" from the top of a building in the theater, a brand new climactic game called "Do Dil's Diapers", and the return of the Rugrats and Angry Beavers, but with an appearance by "Guest DJ" CatDog to teach the audience "The CatDog Scratch".
- 2000–2001: Nicktoons Summer Jam - an updated version of the previous show, with a summer theme and new games based on popular shows. SpongeBob SquarePants also makes an onstage appearance along with Angelica to cheer on the teams. Norbert, Daggett, and CatDog continue to make appearances.
- 2002: Slimetime Live on Stage - A live version of the popular block, the show featured games and segments based on the television block as well as an appearance by SpongeBob SquarePants and Plankton.
- Green Slime Mine Cart Coaster: a mini roller coaster that only existed at California's Great America in Splat City.
- Gak Kitchen: a small area where the Gak and Slime was made for the game shows in the Slime Bowl. These kitchens were converted to character meet and greet areas in 1997, and became home to Tommy, Chuckie, and Angelica from Rugrats.

2022.01.26 06:14 JLillin What I wish Vaush told Kyle re: Transracialism & Transness
I really enjoyed Vaush's conversation with Kyle Kulinski, and I think that by and large the V-man does great work explaining broad strokes of (most) gender issues, and Kyle always strikes me as a good-faith learner. I think, however, there was a missed opportunity to hone in on some of the specifics surround the comparison of "transracialism" to the transgender experience, and I wanted to provide some tools and analogies that could be useful.
In terms of background, I graduated from a SUNY school with degrees in English, Acting, and Sex & Gender studies. I was worried people wouldn't get the clue after picking just one traditionally gay major so I picked all three. During my education the Rachel Dolezal thing exploded, and there was a lot of great discussion in the S&G department about what the most effective rhetoric to counter transracial/transgender comparisons was. I think Vaush's point about gender being biological and cultural vs. race just being cultural is an interesting way of tackling it, but when you consider that many trans folk do not medically or surgically transition many people throw the argument out the window.
The whole point of "transracial" grifters using this particular language is to DELIBERATELY obfuscate and conflate the point, because before this discourse "transracial" was a term almost exclusively used to describe situations where parents adopted a child of a different race.
Kat Blaque has a great video on it, and it's worth a watch. The thing is, Sex & Gender scholars have been in their dojos for decades honing their blade against "Trans-age activists", AKA pedophiles who have, for decades, been arguing that age is a social construct like gender ergo let me at them rugrats.
I don't want to craft a full essay here, but just some quick points. Oops I wrote a shitload. Hopefully it's worth your time. There are, as Vaush points out, examples of transgender identities being core to cultures in every single continent for all of recorded history. In the Americas they were lumped together as "berdache", basically a slur, now are captured under the
"Two Spirit" umbrella, which similarly oversimplifies hundreds of different tribal categories and gender systems across North and South America, each with their own traditions, practices, and beliefs. There are the
Kinnar) of India, the Galli of Rome (and the
Roman EmperoEmpress Elagabalus), and the Igbo and Mbuti tribes of Africa that assign gender after 5 or 13 (respecitvely) depending on the "energy" of the child. Nearly every nation on earth has corresponding precolonial gender deviations and norms that can be understood on their own merits and in general absolutely fucking rock to read and learn about.
We probably all understand that Race is a construct, and Gender is a construct, and, in its own way, Sex is a construct. When we say construct we mean "complicated human cultural and biological category clusterfuck thingy", but hey, guess what, so is almost every category and thing, it doesn't mean they're identical and we can't throw up our hands and suck Jacques Derrida's giant postmodernist schlong until we give up on language all together. "Transracialist" grifters WANT you to give up on this and equate everything and have specifically designed their arguments to be tricky and to manipulate your intuition, so I'm not mad at all for Kyle for having a hard time with the distinction.
So, here's my general way to frame the argument. Let's look at the history of transgenderism across all of recorded human culture, and ask ourselves "how did all of these cultures come up with different cultural gender roles despite being relatively isolated by land and sea for millennia? could it be that anime was invented millennia before we think it was and turned everyone trans?" Honest answer is that, well, it really
was different for everyone! We might understand these roles as most similar to how we understand "gender", but cultures all had different roles and expectations for its members already, and combined with intersex people, eunuchs, people who just had wildly different VIBES and attractions and spirits, and everyone found language and concepts to help identify and guide their thoughts around it differently. At its core, all we can tell is that people throughout history have presented and identified in ways wildly differently than we understand now in our time and place, some had what we can now recognize as gender dysphoria, some didn't, but it seems to be a human universal.
We get NOTHING of the sort when examining how people like Rachel Dolezal are claiming to be "transracial," because the simplest thought experiment renders it absolutely unimaginable. Ask yourself, for instance, how many alpaca farmers in Teotihuacán in 500AD woke up
just knowing they were meant to be swagged out Chinese Tang soldiers crushing the Gaya Federation under their heel. None. Because
how the fuck could they? Race and gender both clearly have "cultural" components, but when Vaush dilutes it to this the argument isn't as strong as we may wish it was because yes, they're cultural constructs, but in clearly different ways.
It actually
is okay to defer to the historical examples here! Most conservatives today argue that transness and homosexuality are new things brought about by the decadent buttfucking global left, and the thing about that is,
they're wrong. The weight of history and historical example
does give us reason to be quite sympathetic to trans lives, and quite unsympathetic to people trying to be "transracial" like Rachel Dolezal.
Because here's the thing, transracialism
does exist, in the way that transracial adoptive families have existed. What Dolezal embodies however, is a desire to have a deeply TRANSCULTURUAL existence PLUS a whole lot of blackface. There have been people sharing, appreciating, and adopting one another's cultures for EVER, it's a core component of the immigrant experience, it's a core driver of humanity, period. There are complicated discussions in different American communities about the mixed race experience, "passing priviledge", and whether or not celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Ariana Grande are doing the 'just the tip' version of blackface in their cosmetic and surgical makeovers, but that's not the conversation Dolezal wants you to have.
Vaush points out Channel 5's Hoff Twins Documentary, which is well worth a watch, to highlight an interesting transcultural experience which is also, in a sense, transracial on the communal level. At no point do the twins claim to be literally black or transracial, just two white boys who have the same culture as the people around them. Their culture is influenced by current day American blackness, rap culture, lower-income culture, Californian culture, and they all intersect and touch on each other in complicated ways. They use the n-word, but NEVER claim to be black or """transracial""" in the way Dolezal describes.
People usually don't mention this, but Dolezal is also CLEARLY FUCKING NUTS. She said she was born to a black father, that she was born in and lived in a teepee in South Africa, had to hunt for food with a bow and arrow, and would, on family game night, play chess using lima beans instead of chess pieces, all of which was, obviously, a lie. She exhibits the traits of a person with a SEVERE personality disorder and an incredible lying complex, and
we should not trust her when she claims to be representative of a huge population of hidden transracial white people who knew they were black ever since they were kids.
Here is the hidden truth about Rachel, as I understand her. I looked at the US Census data for Lincoln Country, Montana, where Dolezal was born, and it has a near zero-percent black population at the time of her birth. But what she did have was, from what we can tell, a really fucked up upbringing. She has ONE biological sibling, and then THREE adopted African American siblings and one Haitian adopted sibling. Her older brother, Joshua Dolezal, is a respected professor, poet and author who wrote a book called "Down from the Mountaintop: From Belief to Belonging" which describes an INCREDIBLY fucked up childhood under their 'cult-like' Christian parents who beat them and weaponized the bible like a bat wrapped in barb wire. She would even go on to gain sole custody and legal guardianship of her adopted brother Izaiah Dolezal who was beaten horribly along with his siblings and was threated with being sent to a group home at any sign of disobedience.
Rachel was, in some measures, also quite smart. She was a co-valedictorian of her High School with a 4.0, won art scholarships. She went to Howard University (SUPER historically black college in the US), and graduated with an MFA summa cum laude in 2002 after submitting thesis paintings from the point of view of a black man. She also claims to have been sexually assaulted by a trusted mentor at Howard, which may have happened. She also later claimed to be sexually assaulted when younger by her brother Joshua Dolezal, which seems like it probably didn't happen. She also sued Howard in 2002 for discriminating against her for being white and preferring the work of African American students over her and her... work about what the African American experience might be like...?
So, the truth about Rachel? She's just really fucked up! She's really, really, really fucked up and is fucked up from childhood and fucked up from her parents and just really totally fucked up! Her view on race? Fucked up! Her view on herself? Fucked up! She's lived a crazy dishonest abuse-ignited disaster life, and hey, turns out every couple years when we hear of a new person claim to be transcultural + please let me do blackface it winds up being a not-too different situation.
I clearly got too excited and wrote way too much, but hopefully somebody gets a little use out of it, because I feel like the topic is really misunderstood in a lot of ways. We determine what identities we care about, how "valid" they are, and how much social cache we should give them through a lot of things. Historical precedence matters a ton, universal applicability matters a ton, and reasonability matters a ton.
TLDR: Rachel Dolezal is a liar, transracial doesn't mean what she wants you to think it means, and I don't think we actually are heading towards a future where we understand being "transracial" in a way that is at all closer to how Dolezal wants us to. Instead we might universally come to understand the complexities of race in the way a lot of transcultural and multiracial people already do today. Vawsh is pretty good on this, I think the arguments could be even better.

2022.01.15 21:00 Bumblebe5 Why do autistics ship characters with nothing in common?
I'm talking like Twilight Sparkle and Thomas the Tank Engine. Sure, it could be because they're both "main" characters (a common reasoning I see in parodies of shows/movies on Scratchpad Wiki), or it could be because they're two of the autistic's favourite characters.
I know when I was younger, I shipped Yae from Ganbare Goemon with Perfect Cell from DBZ, though that was because I had a crush on Cell and Yae was my favourite character. I also shipped Applejack from MLP with Randall from Monsters Inc, and I think that was sort of the same reasoning as the Yae one. When I was 13, I shipped Bass from Mega Man and Kasen from Touhou because I had a crush on Bass and I was thinking of him listening to Kasen's ULiL theme. When I was 15, I used to ship TOM 2 from Toonami with Keesha from Magic School Bus, same reasoning too, but that was me being a weirdo and I know TOM 2's not the same age as Keesha now (I used to think he was.)
There's a person on deviantART who ships Huckleberry Hound with Lil from Rugrats (a literal child) and hates Snagglepuss as a result (they're very toxic about it), and I also saw somewhere on here a dA image of an anime character being shipped with Arthur Read.
The only ship like this I can see working out would be my old friend Minami-Kousaka's: TOM from Toonami and Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time. It's probably the same reasoning as the weird ships I had, but TOM and PB are both smart, strong characters who would definitely get along with each other, even if they really haven't experienced alot of the same things.
Nowadays, I just ship crossover ships like Sara from Toonami with the Computer from Courage the Cowardly Dog, Swayzak from Toonami with Brainiac from the DCAU, etc.

2021.12.27 20:03 MagicalGirlShame [TOMT][CHILDRENS VHS/TV SERIES][1990s] Animated Children's cartoon where siblings dress as their parents, go shopping at a grocery store, put away shopping. UK
UK Children Cartoon on VHS around the late 80's early 90's. My parents either recorded it on television or one of the "family favourites" VHS.
PLOT:
It probably goes through a few "adult" activities, but I remember vividly the brother and sister going grocery shopping and then singing about putting it away, spilling flour, milk generally being bad at it.
CHARACTERS:
A sister and brother, All I remember is the children (a boy & a girl) roleplaying by putting on their mum and dad's clothes. The little girl had an oversized pearl necklace & oversized high heels, I think the boy wore a large suit but I can't remember too much. They had round faces and drawn quite short, human rather than anthro of any kind (not animal).
I've searched desperately for it,; previously mentioned VHS tapes of family favourites, WHS VHS family favourites, CBBC family favourites. There's a YouTube channel dedicated to them and I've scrubbed them all, including scanning 90's animation releases wiki page.
It's not the obvious ones, like Rosey and Jim, Berestien Bears (sp?), The Magic Key, Charlie & Lola, Topsy & Tim, The Rugrats. I'm stumped. Can anyone help? Much appreciated! ❤️
