BEST COMMENT OF WEEK 21:
This one was a hard to choose. All of you were great with your comments about Yoshiwara in Flames and reading your comments was a pure joy to me. So this time there won’t be just one victor. Nor three or four victors.
NO!
There will be two victors.
First victor is u/TakenRedditName. I liked his analysis which was a good read.
The main message of the arc, being able to stand noble and tall is pure Gintama. Hinowa and Tsukuyo being able to stand tall is what inspires the rest of Yoshiwara. The element also of the shining sun of tomorrow will always come is also one that is true to Gintama and Gintoki as a character. The family aspect is also good. Like how Gintoki points it out, Seita and Hinowa are family despite having no blood connection nor having spent much time together in contrast to Kamui’s lack of love to his own blood family. Hinowa and Seita are just really sweet, I really like this little moment. Seeing Seita carry Hinowa.
Also liked some facts he pointed out:
It is funny in retrospect how this lines up with Kagura’s chunni backstory for her Monkey Hunter character back in that unassuming episode. Like her manly game avatar, when her back is against the wall. Kagura’s dark second personality comes out and she becomes a hard-nosed berserker and her mortal enemy is her older brother.
And most importantly this is another reason he won the comment of the week:
Originally, I was going to write how Hozen’s before-death moment doesn’t quite land despite liking when it happened with Ito, but watching and thinking about it, I’ve come to appreciate it. Now, the flashback is just him abusing a little girl who only shows and wished him kindness, but his talk with Kamui, I think presents something interesting. Hozen is much more morally black than Ito so going a similar route of final moment turnaround isn’t going to work, but Hozen is more like looking back at where he ended up. The thing about being unable to show love, always chasing yet never being able to embrace what he is after since he only knows violence, I think it speaks true to the Yato experience. Hozen has the element of building a big twisted form of a house, a paradise to call his home though one built with force and tyranny which is sorta tied to Umibozu, Kagura and Kamui. Umibozu wanted to have a home and family, but didn’t know how and ended up keeping his distance. Kagura wants to find a place away from the violent nature of the Yato while Kamui has abandoned it all for the sole purpose of living on the violent battlefield.
Now I mentioned that the comment of the week has another victor. And it’s u/KendotsX for pointing an interesting piece about Abuto which slipped past me when I was rewatching Yoshiwara in Flames.
He's far from the limelight of this arc, he's strong and experienced, but not the fearsome King of the Yato. He's brutal, but not the blood thirsty young-un coming here to mess with Hosen. And while he's hot, he's not topping Tsukuyo. Basically Abuto rides in the backseat, but he's the best person you could have in your backseat.
First off, Abuto is voiced by Houchu Ootsuka, his voice is like a melody that makes my head orgasm.
But really it's the performance, the way Abuto carries himself, the laid back, but responsible attitude always looking to clean up after others, the informal and snarky mannerism of speech, but careful wording.
Even his attitude towards his race is a paradox, he wants his race to embrace its bloodthirsty nature, while keeping as many alive as is possible. He's got so much bullshit, he doesn't get to call Kagura out.
Although his joke about the "outdated" nature sets him perfectly between Kamui, who's full on following the Yato blood, and Kagura who's going against it.
Abuto's main role in the arc is obviously fighting Kagura, bringing out the beast in her, and then becoming her punching bag. The fight itself is great, but realistically any strong enough Yato could've been her foe, so what does Abuto bring to the table? He's standing in the middle. Not just between Kagura and her brother, but even between Kagura and and her "dark side", giving her useful insight from his position. Even when she beats the shit out of him, he never goes all bloodthirsty, instead he sees it as a good thing for the Yato that's worth keeping alive, therefore sticking to his ideals. Basically he's a lot closer to Kagura's ideal than she is.
I love Tsukuyo, she's a good kid, a really good kid, and overall a better character, but in this arc, Abuto stands as my favourite! If this guy was in One Piece, he'd be the only one giving Zoro a challenge for best right hand man.
And as a prize for both of you, I prepared a special room for you. So enjoy yourself to your fullest, you have 72 hours to spend together there. Have fun!

QUESTIONS FOR YOU - WEEK 21:
  1. What’s your opinion about Housen being redeemed in the end?
This one was a kind of a test from my side. All of you passed with saying he wasn’t redeemed because the point in his dying scene wasn’t about him but about Hinowa’s character.
  1. Tsukuyo made her debut. How you liked her character so far? What’s your predictions about her? Also what do you think about her?
Everyone of you immediately liked her.
  1. Also Kagura’s elder brother, Kamui, made his debut. Your thoughts about him and your predictions about him?
You quite liked him and you have a great expectations about his character in future.
  1. Abuto. What do you think of him?
The most you liked about him is his voice, and u/KendotsX made interesting analysis about him (I referred that in Best comment of the week section)
  1. The tastiest one. Kagura snapping. Your thoughts?
You were terrified, blursed, amazed, scared, sad, you found it raw and you found it to be quite good scene.
AND I LOVED TO READ EVERY COMMENT OF YOURS REACTING ABOUT IT.
  1. Are you satisfied how Housen was defeated? I mean having Housen defeated not by Gintoki, but by sunlight.
You liked it by showing that Gintoki isn’t almighty in his verse and sometimes you need others help to win.
  1. Also in the end, Yoshiwara has opened. Your predictions how opening of Yoshiwara will impact Kabukicho?
Not a strong answers to this question.
  1. Btw. we had whole batch dedicated to single arc for first time. Was it a different experience for you than having mixed batches, or no?
Some of you found harder to write your comment about it, and some of you found easier to write your comment about it, as whole single arc is easier to write about than several mini-arcs mixed with comedy episodes.
Also u/KendotsX died twice as he was writing his comment. But he has spare lives so it’s okay.

All the Modes, for All Kinds of Players

Our GW2 Division is organized into Departments to ensure we give our players all the ways they want to play:

More Than Just A Game

The Remnants of Hope gaming community offers far more than just the GW2 Division, however. After beginning in Star Wars Galaxies in 2009, RoH has grown to include Elder Scrolls Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft, and Final Fantasy XIV. People who join RoH through the GW2 Division are welcome to join other Divisions and experience all RoH has to offer.
Our large gaming community also delivers stability and a democratic structure few guilds can rival. We hold Division and Community elections every six months, keeping leadership fresh and avoiding burnout. A detailed Charter enables good governance and financial stability for an organization designed for the long term. A strict but fair disciplinary system ensures that any toxic behavior is addressed quickly and confidentially.
This guild structure allows a safe and joyful space for players of all backgrounds. Many of our leaders and members are part of the LGBTQ+ community, and we have players in every generation from Zoomer to Boomer. Our commitment to antiracism, diversity, and inclusion is built into our foundation and implemented through all our policies, including accommodations as appropriate.
The larger gaming community additionally provides many opportunities outside GW2. Our Discord and forums are constantly active, and the community meets as a whole once a month. We have a range of cross-community activities, including karaoke, movie nights, multi-game fashion and other shows, and casual games. We have also held meetups in Washington, D.C. and Las Vegas, sponsored a booth at Awesome Con, and are currently planning our 2023 meetup! Feel free to catch up on guild news on our Twitter @ Remnantsofhope1.

Ready to Join?

We *deeply* value our community and want to protect it from disruption and toxicity. To that end, every applicant must go through a two-week trial period, which includes reasonable activity and engagement requirements, to make sure there is a good fit between you and our community. Rest assured, however, there are people here who help you throughout the process; you never just join our Discord server and fend for yourself. Many of our Trial Members appreciate the care we take in integrating new players into the guild, and you can check out what some new members have to say on our GW2 forum thread.

2023.06.04 19:37 afrocyborg 30[M4F] US/Anywhere - Gamer boy looking for his player 2

Hello, fellow redditor. How are you doing on this fine day? Has anything interesting happened to you this week?
Are you still looking for a new best friend/significant other? Someone that you can gush about your passions in life? One who you can message at ungodly hours of the night? Somebody who can help to alleviate the daily stress of feeling like you are alone in the world? Someone who you can message when you are feeling down? Or maybe even someone who gives you butterflies every time you get a message from them?
Well, do I have an offer for you!!!!
For the ridiculously low price of a direct message, you can meet your new best friend!!!
All you have to do is pick up the phone (or get on your computer) and send me a direct message. And, in the next (whenever I'm able to get a chance to check reddit), you can meet your brand new best friend!!!
Don't wait!!! This offer is only available for the next (whenever I decide to take this post down).
In all seriousness, I appreciate you taking the time to check out my post. I'm sure that you're here in the same spot as I am. Just wanting to try and form a connection with new people. So I figured I'd reach out to the internet and try and see if I can vibe with some new people. Maybe hopefully it grows to something more.
I'm a 30-year-old guy looking for a relationship (or friendship) through reddit. I know it's probably not the best idea, but I haven't had a lot of success with dating apps in my area. Plus, dating in your 30's is hard when you're an introvert. I will say though, I have made some great friends through reddit in the past, so I figured I'd try again and see what happens.
A little bit about me. I'm a typical redditor. Gamer, anime watcher, music enthusiast, and occasional movie watcher. I'm also a giant sports fan as well. Right now, I'm playing Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. It's pretty much taken over my life at the moment. There are a lot of games coming out this year, and I can't wait to get my hands on them. Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy XVI, and so many more I can't think of right now. It's gonna be a great year for gaming. I can honestly talk about gaming for hours. It's the best. Let's talk about our favorite games, or possibly play some together.
In terms of anime, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is my favorite show. Yes, it's ridiculous and over the top, but that's what makes it great. I haven't caught up with My Hero Academia Season 6 yet, but only because I want to stack them up and power through them all at once. Outside of that, I've been watching some Spy X Hunter. What a charming little show this is. Anyway, I'm always looking for new recommendations. What are you watching now?
Sports-wise, I'm a Los Angeles Lakers fan and a Las Vegas Raiders fan. I know. This has been a very disappointing season. Hopefully, the Lakers pull something wild off, and players are able to stay healthy. Otherwise, I just can only hope for a better season next year. I need something to be excited about. I have a lot of random useless sports information in my head. I've loved basketball and football my entire life, so I'd much rather stay at home and watch a game than go out and drink or party or whatever.
My favorite genres of music are Hip-hop and R&B. I would have to say a few of my favorite albums of all time would be Channel Orange by Frank Ocean, Because the Internet by Childish Gambino, 2014 Forest Hills Drive by J. Cole, Malibu by Anderson .Paak, and To Pimp a Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar. I also listen to a bunch of different genres. What are some of your favorite songs or albums? Let's exchange music playlists with each other.
Anyway. I feel like I'm rambling at this point, so I'll stop here. That way we can get to know each other and see if we vibe together. So, if you're interested in getting to know a nerdy introvert over the internet, by all means, shoot me a message. Hit me with your a/s/l so I know it's real. I'm totally down to exchange discords and have a little discord date to get to know each other. If not, thank you for checking out my post, and I hope that you find whatever you are looking for.

2023.06.04 17:47 bingo0619 Mediterranean Shore Excursions, Celebrity Infinity

Just got back from 11-day Mediterranean cruise on Celebrity Infinity. Thought I would share what we did and what learned and liked since this gets asked about a lot. Hope it's helpful :)
FYI-We prefer doing food and wine activities over sightseeing and touristy stuff, I will try to add things I heard from other passengers re: things we did not do. I am going to put he tour provider for each excursion for those who might want to book direct. Also, we sacrifice cabin class for good food and more expensive excursions to stay within our budget.

Barcelona- We embarked here and spent a few days prior. We were not prepared for the jet lag as we flew overnight and had one quick layover. We arrived midday and napped, but our schedules were off. I would recommend trying to stay up as long as you can and sleep at night, your normal time. Barcelona is seven hours ahead of the Midwest, where we live. Nevertheless, we rallied our middle-aged asses and had and an amazing time.
I pre purchased skip the line tickets for La Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell on separate days. We went at our scheduled time and did not wait. We stayed on Las Ramblas and took cabs there and walked back. Many people did hop on/off and that worked well. We also went to La Boqueria Market and bought little things from many stands and sampled a lot. Very fun and cool experience. Did a DYI tapas tour I put together on my own from just research. We did not know this, but Elton John was performing when were there and we got to go, which was amazing! Coldplay was also performing there so the city was crowded.
We stayed on Las Ramblas, which was close to the port, but I would recommend staying more inside the city. Our hotel was okay, clean, but not many amentities. Suited our purposes, but was loud some nights. Cabs and food are relatively cheap and easy.

Day 2- Marseille- We did a walking food tour through Shore Excursions Group since the Celebrity one was sold out. This was operated by a company called Do Eat Better Experience. There were six of us, the other 4, not on cruise. Was a four-hour tour and worth it. Went to places I would not have known about. Guide was ok, but not very interactive. We had a great time with the other couples.
We got off early to walk around before the tour which met at 11:30. However, shops and cafe's do not open up till later. I would recommend sleeping later and going into port later, if you dont have an excursion booked. By the time our excursion was over, the towns were buzzing. We took a cab from the port and back, but you can take a bus or shuttle, I believe. Very nice day.
Day 3-Nice (Villefranche)- We did a tour through Celebrity, called Destination highlights, Nice and St. Paul de Vence Village. This was operated by Intercruises Shoreside and Port Services. We tendered super quickly. This was great day and included a lunch at a Michelin starred restaurant and a wine tasting at Cave Bianchi in Nice. We also had plenty of free time to explore each place. The formula 1 racing was in Monoco so there were Ferrari's, Lambo's and other racecars all over the place. We were allowed to look and take pics which was cool.
The lunch and wine tasting were phenomenal. The beach at Nice was gorgeous and if we would have known we would have brought our bathing suit and towels to go there, rather than walk around in the town. You can easily take a cab there and go on your own without doing an excursion. This was an all-day tour. So were back on the ship in time to relax and eat in MDR and chill for the night. It was a great, great day. I will say the people and guides were not as friendly and helpful as in other places, but it's not really an issue and doesn't ruin anything, we just didn't expect it. Our guide in Nice as a little on the unprofessional side, but, to each their own.

Day 4-Florence/Pisa (La Spezia), Italy- We booked a tour through Celebrity called, Destination Highlight: Coast of Cinque Terre and Portovenere, operated by Aloschi Brothers. Our guide was absolutely incredible, probably the best one we have had. her name was Duna in case you ever do this privately. We had individual small receivers and ear buds so we could hear her perfectly. We started in Portovenere where there is the famous Church of San Pietro. Just amazing and stunning views. The town is charming, and we walked and sampled. Did not buy much, just some food to take home.
We then took a boat ride up the coast and ended at the last of the Cinque Terre Villages, Monterosso. I am so glad did this over the three-village tour by bus. The boat ride up the coast was just amazing, and I assume this villages were similar. Gorgeous village. Rather than fight the crowd we hiked up a steep hill to the just incredible Porto Roco hotel and ate an incredible seafood and pasta lunch. The views were fabulous, and we had it to ourselves. Great meal. There is also a small, but beautiful beach at Monterosso you can hang out on. This was our favorite day.
We did the Chef's table on Celebrity that night which was otherworldly. A lot of eating and drinking this day. Incredible day!
Day 5- Rome (Civitavecchia) We were never going to Rome, no desire to travel there and deal with the crowds. I booked a private car from We Love Italy to go wine tasing in Tuscany. We had a husband-and-wife couple, Paulo and Nicola driving us, and it was great. They were absolutely lovely, and it was a pleasure and privilege to be with them, so kind and generous. They have an open invitation to stay with us if they ever visit. They also took us to a village and beach in Capalbio and for lunch in Manciano-Saturina. Again, amazing food and wine. The boat left late so we had lots of time.
I heard Rome was not as crowded as some thought and some of our shipmates actually got a glimpse of the Pope at the Vatican, which is so special.

Day 6-at Sea- up by 7 :( and got a spot and the hot tubs after breakfast. Stayed by the pool most of morning, it was great weather. Lots of activities to do but we chilled. We did the Mixology class offered by Celebrity which was a blast. We were bartenders at Martini bar for a few hours learning to make and serve cocktails. So, so fun and crew and guests were great.
Day 7- Valletta, Malta: We did an excursion from Celebrity called, Destination Highlight: Seaside towns of Vittoriosa and Marsaxlokk. Operated by Sam Mifsud and Sons. The tour was so so, the best part being a trip for wine and food tasting. Do you guys sense a pattern? It was rather boring, I should have researched better on this one. The fishing village, Marsaxlokk was a basic tourist trap with a makeshift market and nothing open. Vittoriosa was nicer and where the restaurant was. They did set up a nice area and what was served was good. I think doing more on your own or going to Gozo or Limoncello tasting would be good. I looked after and there are some excursions that looked way better.
Day 8-at Sea- Very chill day. We did the Blendique Wine Class and the World Wine Tasting which we have done before. Both super fun with great people and crew. We did not eat much or go to pool.
Day 9- Santorini, Greece-We did an excursion through Celebrity called, Small Group Discoveries: Island Wine Tasting Experience, operated by Rhapsody Travel. Tendering ashore was organized and quick. Went to three wineries on the island and had food at each. Also visited black sand beach and red sand beach. the latter of which was spectacular. Very nice tour with not a lot of people. This also included our cable car tickets down. We ate lunch at a restaurant on the water, which I forgot the name, but it was good. There were 8 other ships there, so it got crowded, we left after lunch and waited a very reasonable hour for the cable cars down to the tender spot. Up tp this point it was nice day.
Due to something very upsetting I witnessed in the town, not cruise related, I will never, never, ever step foot on Santorini again. Not necessary to discuss as it was personal to me, and I don't want to cloud anyone else's experience or opinion.
We watched the famous sunset from the top deck and it did not disappoint. We avoided the very long lines to get back to ship at night.
Day 10-Mykonos, Greece: We did a Celebrity excursion called, Small Group Discoveries: Mykonian Cooking Experience, operated by Rhapsody Travel. People, I cannot tell you how great this was. We went to a private home or spiti. There 14 of us. Teta was our host and the home own. So gracious and generous. We learned so much and all interacted and prepared an authentic lunch and sat down to eat. She prepared dessert as well. It was around 4 hours. She was incredibly gracious and generous. Probably the second-best day we had. One of the best excursions we have ever done. I would do it again for sure.
We walked around Mykonos after and had ANOTHER lunch at a restaurant called Promenade that was great. Very fresh seafood and authentic food. This a was very nice town, we loved it. There was a very small church with a blue dome, (others had different colors) that was open and it was beautiful inside. It was right by the water. I'm not Greek orthodox or even religious, but I got chills. I small prayer of thanks to my G-d for giving me this experience. I would 100% come back to Mykonos.
We bought beautiful piece of art from a local artist and owned studio called, Triciclo. It was really our only big purchase. We don't really but T-shirts, magnets, etc.
Day 11-Athens: I had transfer and we went right home. :(

This was a beautiful, beautiful cruise. I could not have asked for better experiences.
Celebrity tendering was fast and organized and easy. This who had excursions at applicable ports met and left by group with 30 minutes of docking. Those who had tickets to tender without a Celebrity excursion got called overhead by group and left from a different deck, also fast.
Quite a few of the guide said Celebrity tender the quickest and best. They mentioned other line by name that were not good, but I don't be negative or worry someone else, so I won't mention specifics.
My other suggestion for Celebrity would be to pick excursions that are "Small Group Discoveries", or "Destination Highlights". These seemed to be a better experience.
Happy and safe cruising everyone!!

Sunday, June 4 — 5 significant news stories
Today ChatGPT read 916 top news stories and gave 7 of them a significance score over 7.

After removing duplicates and repeats, here is today’s significant news:
[8.5] Earth's energy imbalance due to human activity causing global warming and climate change — JARA News
The Earth's energy imbalance, caused by human activity through the emission of greenhouse gases, is leading to global warming and climate change, according to a recent report from the World Meteorological Organization. The excess energy accumulates in the different components of the climate system, with the ocean storing 89% of the excess heat, leading to coral bleaching events and other negative impacts on marine ecosystems. The imbalance also has negative impacts on humanity and ecosystems, with between 3.3 and 3.6 billion people living in contexts vulnerable to global warming. The solution is to reduce emissions to zero, with individuals able to contribute by using active transportation, consuming less meat and dairy products, reducing food waste, and improving the energy efficiency of homes.
[8.2] Draft for first international treaty on plastic pollution to be produced by November — FRANCE 24 English
Negotiators at the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee for Plastics have agreed to produce an initial draft of the first international, legally binding treaty on plastic pollution, on land and at sea, before their next meeting in Kenya in November. The treaty aims to end plastic pollution altogether by 2040 by slashing production and limiting some chemicals used in making plastics. However, countries with big petroleum industries like the US, China and Saudi Arabia are focusing instead on plastic recycling, and want country-by-country rules instead of across-the-board limits. Humanity produces more than 430 million tons of plastic annually, two-thirds of which are short-lived products that soon become waste, filling the ocean and, often, working their way into the human food chain.
[8.2] Human-made climate change causing Earth's surface to warm and upper atmosphere to cool dramatically — Innovation Origins
Researchers have confirmed that human-made climate change is causing the Earth's surface to warm, while the upper atmosphere cools significantly. This phenomenon, called an atmospheric paradox, impacts orbiting satellite, the ozone layer, and potentially alters Earth's weather patterns. Increased levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere are affecting these layers differently, warming the lower atmosphere (troposphere) but cooling the upper ones (mesosphere and thermosphere). If CO2 levels continue to rise, these trends are likely to intensify, posing increasing risks to satellites and delaying the recovery of the ozone layer. Further research is needed to fully understand these long-term effects on the climate system.
[7.7] Superbugs pose significant threat to modern medicine and human life expectancy — Sydney Morning Herald
Superbugs, or organisms that have evolved to become resistant to medicine, are on the rise and pose a significant threat to modern medicine. Microbes evolve quickly because they multiply so rapidly, and only those with the best defences against evolutionary pressures survive. Superbugs can be resistant before they infect someone, develop resistance inside a person who is taking antibiotics, or be resistant before they infect someone, swirling around in the world with inbuilt protection against the drugs we would usually throw at them. A drug-resistant form of golden staph, or staphylococcus aureas, is the most dominant superbug in Australia, and a drug-resistant form of extended spectrum beta lactamase (ESBL) E. coli, an enzyme made by bacteria in the gut, is the second-most common superbug. The World Health Organisation has warned that returning to a pre-antibiotic era would lead to the average human life expectancy plummeting from 70 years to 50 and could undermine developments in cancer treatment.
[7.0] Strikes increase in Russia's Belgorod region as Ukrainian forces prepare for counteroffensive — Newsweek
Strikes have increased in Russia's Belgorod region as Ukrainian forces prepare for a major counteroffensive. The governor of the region claimed that around 850 missiles and other projectiles were launched at Shebekino, injuring 16 people and killing two women. The shelling has also caused damage to numerous buildings in the region, leaving Shebekino without food or water. Pro-Ukraine Russian rebel groups are reportedly still active in Belgorod, despite previous claims from the Kremlin that they had been successfully repelled.

2023.06.04 12:12 Thick_Mick_Chick Windows to the Soul: Allie's Assimilation

Note: This is part 2 to Shiloh's Final Battle
Gomez and Tish pulled into their driveway and heard barking. They'd gotten a German Shepherd pup when Guillermo Del Toro's "The Strain" was on T.V. As a joke, but also because they loved the character? They named him Thomas Eichhorst after the Nazi vampire who was one of Guillermo Del Toro's most powerful villains ever created. No one put much thought into the name choice considering they loved all things horror. "What the hell has Eichhorst going off? He knows it's us!" Gomez couldn't understand why he'd bark at the 2 people he NEVER barks at. "I can honestly say I'm not even surprised after this day." Tish exhaled and proceeded to get out of the car. Eichhorst continued the call of his people. "IKE! EICHHORST! KNOCK IT THE HELL OFF!" Gomez yelled so Eichhorst could hear because he was behind the chain link fence in the backyard. He acted like he didn't hear a word. As they got closer to the house? They noticed Eichhorst was not barking at them. He was barking at the woods BEHIND them. "He sees something we don't." Tish matter-of-factly stated. She & Gomez simultaneously turned to look into the woods. Nothing. No noise. Nothing was there. Eichhorst stopped barking as soon as they turned towards the woods. Everything stopped. "What the hell is going on, Cara Mia?" Gomez was starting to experience what Tish had all day long. "I don't know, Mon Cher. I just know I don't like it." Tish continued glancing into the trees. "Probably time to sit back and relax. You've had a bad day that ended a rough week. It's time to just chill." As if knowing what Gomez had just said? His city issued phone started ringing. "NO. ABSOLUTELY not! I'm off tonight! What is so critical that Gomer & Goober can't handle it?" Gomez could feel his blood pressure start to rise. "Find out what it is 1st, Craig, before you go into a meltdown." Tish always called him Craig when she was irritated. "Hello?!" Gomez did a poor job hiding his inconvenience. "Man, it's Ol Shiloh! You gotta get over here, Gomez. It's bad! It's so bad!" Bubba was inconsolable. He was on the verge of tears. "Whoa, slow down, Bubba. What happened?" Gomez tried bringing levity. "We came by to check on him when we were on patrol. He was in the doorway, he was..." Bubba finally started crying. He hated it. The last thing he wanted to do was cry in front of his co-workers. He just simply could not process what the hell they'd rolled up on. "Wait? Ol Shiloh is hurt?" Gomez was trying to process what Bubba was saying. Tish's brow furrowed. She didn't like what she was hearing. "I mean, if you consider hurt dead with his fuckin' throat ripped out to his spinal cord? Then? Yeah, he's hurt." Bubba's anger at his own insecurities was boiling over onto Gomez. "Look, Bubba. Clearly you guys have been going through something over there. I'm headed that way. For future reference? Don't take your shit out on me. I didn't do anything to you." Gomez scolded. "Sorry, Gomez. It's just so..." and Bubba broke down further. Gomez hopped back into the car. "What's going on? Who was that? Don? Bubba?" Tish was concerned. "Hop in the passenger's side if you want to find out. I have to go." Gomez started the engine. Tish walked around and got in.
They pulled into Shiloh's driveway behind the Eerie, Indiana patrol car. Bubba came running out to greet them. "Don is in there with him. The paramedics just got here a few minutes ago." Bubba proceeded to catch Gomez up. He and Tish had been so busy looking at Bubba and the patrol car they didn't notice the bus parked to the side of the house ready to pick up Ol Shiloh.
Tish & Gomez entered the threshold where Ol Shiloh laid on his back, staring at the ceiling. His throat. Jesus, his throat. It was gone. They both were rocking back on their heels.
"We thought it was a big cat attack. It's not. Those bite marks on his throat? That's human not feline." Kennedy was an intelligent little bastard. Arrogant, condescending and holier-than-thou, but very intelligent. Not only would he inform all of the insubordinates around him about everything they didn't know? He'd do it with one hell of a cocky attitude. Ah, Kennedy, and his unsolicited lessons. Time to sit up and listen in class. ..
"When he opened the door? We thought it was an animal attack. Instead? He must've been attacked by humans. The bite marks definitely indicate human but the vicious nature of how deep the wounds went indicate something much more powerful. This was to his spinal cord." Kennedy didn't look like he knew-it-all. He looked perplexed.
"But how could a human bite that deep?" Gomez asked.
"I don't know. I honestly don't know." Kennedy was lost for the 1st time since becoming a paramedic 7 years ago. He'd never seen trauma of this caliber. He hadn't even seen this level of brutality and he'd rolled up on gang fights.
Don and Bubba were both on the front porch, looking in, mouths agape. Gomer & Goober indeed.
Kennedy loaded up Ol Shiloh's body with the assistance of a new EMT that Gomez was fairly certain Kennedy was banging. I mean, he was a total Chad so why wouldn't he?
Don put the camera away in the trunk of the patrol car. At least he had the presence of mind to get the pictures taken before emergency services hit the scene. This was going to rock Eerie, Indiana's foundation. Murder hadn't happened here in anyone's lifetime so this was a "big city" problem they weren't use to dealing with. Nosey people, scared kids, idiot media, this was not what Eerie needed right now. It certainly wasn't what he needed. He had enough of Allie putting out for anyone that would buy her a 6 pack or some cigarettes. Had he known he could've gotten off so cheaply? He sure as hell wouldn't have married her. Unfortunately, for his dumb ass? He actually fell in love with her. Why? He didn't know. Self esteem was never his strong suit. So? After dating 6 months, her only cheating 3 times, then getting pregnant with his baby? He made the perilous decision to try to make an honest woman out of her. Don sincerely doubted if Allie had ever been honest about anything in her life. Coincidentally? When they came back from their Honeymoon 2 weeks later? She'd miscarried. Well, she claimed she miscarried. Don never saw a pregnancy test nor would he have been 💯% sure the baby was his. He would've actually suspected the baby was not. Looking at all of it now, how did he not see it sooner?
"Get to those pics, ASAP Rocky, Don!" Gomez instructed. "Please, don't be an embarrassing Gen Xer who thinks he's so cool and up to date on all of the current lingo. They laugh at us only a little less than Boomers." Tish was still trying to get a handle on all of this and his Goofy antics weren't really in need right now.
The woods to the side of Ol Shiloh's place was the same as the woods to the back of Gomez & Tish's driveway. Eichhorst couldn't understand why his humans didn't acknowledge his bark. He never barked. He especially never barked at his humans. Why did they think he had? Didn't they see the kids in the woods? The little boy? The little girl? How could they not? As far away as the kids were? They smelled funny. He didn't understand. It was the same smell in the air that he sensed right before thunderstorms began and he hid under Gomez and Tish's bed. Humans don't smell like that. It's impossible to explain ozone to a German Shepherd.
The children watched as Ol Shiloh was loaded onto the ambulance and taken away. The couple were getting into their car and the deputies were already headed down the driveway.
"It has began." The dark-haired pale little girl spoke. "Indeed. It has. Let's see what Venerate has in store for the humans now." The boy replied and they headed towards town.
Eerie, Indiana was like any other Midwest, small town. You had your good ol boys & jerks. You had freaks and geeks. You had Bible thumpers and always humpers. Allie Hoff was the "always humpers" category. No one nor nothing could change that. The girl went through life bartering sex and blow jobs for anything she needed. It was a pitiful existence and she knew it. Unfortunately? She never learned and didn't know another way. With Eerie being so small? She was limited to the same "favor givers" over and over, again. Never any new blood. Never any fresh meat. It really stifled what few prospects she had. She looked up from where she was slumped over the bar, in her barstool, nursing a bottle of beer. She happened to look up to the front door. Who was that? She'd never seen him in here before. He was about 6'3" with dark wavy hair and ocean blue eyes. His skin was sun kissed and the muscles showcased the entire package. Wait. WTF? This dude doesn't belong here. Who the hell is he?
He appeared to glide and almost float towards her. He gestured to the empty bar stool next to her. "Is this seat taken?" He smiled with almost glowing white teeth. She locked up. Wait? He wants to sit next to me?
She just shook her head no because she was too shocked to speak. "Hi, I'm Vinny." He extended his hand and his gleaming smile never faltered. "Allie." She finally squeaked out. Guys like this didn't talk to girls like her. "Nice to meet you, Allie." Vinny swung around and attempted to get the bartender's attention. "I'll have a Jack & Coke. For the lady?" Vinny slyly smiled at Allie and she was entranced. "Same" was all Allie could say. He paid for their drinks and handed Allie hers. "I've never seen you before." Allie just finally came out with it. "No, I'm new to the area. You wouldn't have seen me around here." Vinny replied. "Oh? New from where?" Allie was trying to proceed with caution. She did not want to miss out on the opportunity that was this gorgeous specimen of a man. "You've never heard of it, trust me. No one ever has." Vinny still held his smile. "I'd still like to know." Allie returned a smile that was nowhere near as beautiful as Vinny's. "Maybe when we get to know each other better." Vinny conceded. "Oh? So we're going to be getting to know each other better, are we?" Allie coyly pressed. "If I have any say in it? Most definitely." Vinny winked. Damn. That boy was so fine she'd drink his bathwater if he peed in it. He was the perfect vision of the perfect man. It was as if he were tailor made just for Allie. How, though? How could she actually meet her real life Manic Pixie Dream boy? The one she'd dreamed about when she was a little girl. The one who laughed at everything she said. Listened attentively. The one who only had eyes for her no matter how many "rich bitch" girls were around. She'd treat him like a postage stamp. She'd lick every square inch of him and go back for 2nds on the important parts. "Allie, you strike me as a very straightforward girl." Vinny snapped her out of her daze. "I am. No bullshit." Allie replied. "Then? Allow me to be straightforward by telling you that I want to fuck you senseless." Vinny casually stated as if someone asked him for the time. "Well, that is certainly straightforward." Allie was stunned. She wasn't so stunned that she'd let an opportunity like this pass her by. She'd made up her mind that was going to happen as soon as she saw him. "And your answer?" Vinny inquired. "Anywhere. Any place. Any time Any day." Allie assured. With that? They stood from their barstools and headed outside. He even smelled good but not a typical smell. It was like the air at the beginning of a thunderstorm. He smelled like ozone. Ozone??? Was that even possible?
Gomez and Tish got home and plopped on the couch. Eichhorst came through the doggy door and trotted straight to Tish. "I've got leftovers, Piggy. Give me a sec." Tish opened her container from the restaurant. Eichhorst sat patiently waiting for his command.
"What a fuckin' day." Gomez exhaled exhaustedly. "Yeah. It has been. Poor Ol Shiloh. This is just too much." Tish's head continued to try to find rationality where there was one. "I'm getting in the shower and going to bed. You need anything?" Gomez slowly rose up from the couch, joints popping like a glow stick. "No. I'm probably gonna watch a movie and go to bed after." Tish answered. "Horror?" Gomez queried. "What else?" Tish smiled albeit a tired one. Eichhorst jumped up next to her on the couch and laid on her like a lap dog.
Vinny was walking Allie into their local little flop hotel room. It wasn't like she wasn't familiar with the place. The staff referred to her as "Frequent flier". She didn't particularly like the insensitive moniker but couldn't deny its accuracy, either. He closed the door behind them in one failed swoop. This was a practiced talent she noticed. Didn't matter. He was hers tonight.
"Make yourself comfortable." Vinny gestured to the only bed in the room. Allie took a seat. She looked up at him and noticed the ozone smell becoming stronger. Weird. He smelled good but she had never known someone to smell like a thunderstorm.
"I'm going to step into the bathroom for just a minute. I'll be right out." Vinny stepped into their adjacent bathroom. She heard loud music and laughter from somewhere down the hall but couldn't quite place where. It was for the best. Allie had always been, well, vocal. Normally? If a guy is hitting it right? She hit the vocal range of 2 stray cats screwing. She couldn't help it. She was like this every since puberty. It was all the girl thought about. She figured she was probably a nympho although she was never officially diagnosed. She couldn't hear what he was doing. It didn't matter. It wasn't going to affect her and what she was doing. She walked to the curtains and made sure they were completely closed. Although they were, why did she feel like she was being watched? She stripped down with the efficiency of a HazMat worker decontaminating. She heard the bathroom door opening. She kept her back turned so she could make the surprise last as long as possible. Was this the night? The night she could finally reach sexual satisfaction? Was this the dick that was going to change her life? There was a soft green glow coming from the bathroom. Must be a nightlight? She hadn't noticed before. Was it getting brighter? It looked like it was coming towards her. Was it Vinny? Maybe he's videoing me? Not like I'd care, but he could have asked. "Are you recording me?" She asked as she continued to look towards the window. His breathing was different. It seemed labored and, well, wet. It didn't sound like he did earlier, that was for sure. "You okay?" Allie asked. His breathing was raspier, louder, wetter. She decided to bail on her romantic idea of not turning around before he reached her. She turned around and her playful nature and smile fell away immediately.
Her brain couldn't process what her eyes were seeing. It couldn't be real. God knows along with banging any guy she could get her hands on, she used to hit hard drugs back in the day. This had to be a flashback. It had to be a "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" scenario. This? This "Mars Attacks!" bullshit right here? This is not reality.
It's bulbous head was transparent. It looked like a barrel eye fish that she saw on a nature show she used to blaze and chill to. That also explained the soft green glow. It sounded like and looked aquatic. That's where the wet sounds were coming from. It kept advancing. It had a white upper torso with arms and webbed fingers on each hand. What sent her over the edge? From the waist down? It was a human male. All the important parts and in working condition. How? She had no idea. But? When she meant working condition? It was working it's way right towards her. Wait, this thing is going to still have sex with me?! No. Absolutely not. "No. Stop." Allie feebly tried to resist. It did no good. Allie didn't know she was the reason he was even here. This was the whole gameplan all along. It was never a casual hook up.
Venerate had studied numerous different civilizations but Terrestrials always fascinated him. They were so primitive but also entertaining. The Alliance had tried many different hybrid trials between themselves and Terrestrials. They never made it out of infancy. There was a weakness that need strengthened in their own DNA to combine with humans. They worked on it until their resolution was Venerate himself. He has the best of what their kind has to offer with the malleable adaptivity to change himself into anything he needs to to be able to convince Terrestrials to trust him. It worked. Ol Shiloh thought Venerate was his deceased wife. Allie thought he was her dream man. He needs a human to impregnate. Beggars can't be choosers. It worked out perfectly. Allie took one look at his bulbous transparent head, his lower nontransparent stiff head and proceeded to pass out on the bed. It didn't matter. Venerate didn't need her awake to begin their hybrid breeding program. And? Begin the program he did. Everything was coming to fruition via the Alliance's vision. All of their hard work finally got them here. The pale, dark-haired children stood outside the hotel room window, peaking through the crack in the curtain. They were able to relay the mission a success with Venerate making first, second and third contact. Once the younglings come forth? The Alliance can begin occupation and what a glorious day that will truly be! Everything was going so perfectly. This just had to be fool proof. They walked off into the night, smiling so much those obsidian eyes even looked less demonic. This was the beginning of prosperity. This was the beginning of the end of humanity.

2023.06.04 09:35 lautaromassimino Elite season 4 (second) rewrite [following suggestions from my original post, a few days ago]

Okay, so... a few days ago I posted about a rewrite of all Elite seasons, dividing it into two parts (part 1: S1, S2 & S3, and part 2: S4, S5 & S6). It was a rewrite that I did about a year ago, and only a few days ago it occurred to me to upload it here without further ado, but several comments on the post from the last three seasons told me that they felt a little disconnected from the rest, that last seasons didn't had a general harmony between the characters and the story itself, and the truth is, you were right.
So, since I had nothing better to do at home, I began to think of some way to accommodate that, and well, this is what I came to ^-^
This is only the S4 rewrite, and I want to clarify this retains most of the things I mentioned in my original post, but in a better order, and with several additions I took from the comments on that post, which really made this version a 100/10.
I leave you the link of the original post, where you can read the first complete idea:
https://www.reddit.com/EliteNetflix/comments/13yr1r6/fixing_netflix_elite_season_46_english/
I'll be making the new parts 5 and 6 in a few of these days, and uploading them to my profile as well. When I have them, I will leave those links in the comments of this post.
****************************************************************************************************************************
S4: the main focus of this season would be on excesses, specifically, on the consequences of drug abuse.
  1. Las Encinas is a bilingual school, but we never see another teacher speaking English (French in the English dubbing) again.
  2. The school competition with the Ivy League prize that Nadia and Lu compete for during the first three seasons is not mentioned again, when it is supposed to be something that is done every single year.
  3. In addition, from this season almost all the scenes are located almost exclusively inside the school, and we see very little about outdoor scenes, or the private lives of the characters. This is also a serious mistake, since that was what best allowed us to know each other's backgrounds, and create empathy with them.
Initial setting for this season:
(in my post about the first three seasons) I made clear my idea for Christian's character at the end of season 3 (I decided to keep the character in the show, for plot reasons of season 2):
Ari, Patrick and Mencía:
Benjamín Blanco: The father of the new trio, and the new principal in Las Encinas, after Azucena's dismissal. He is actually Polo's uncle (his late wife was Begoña Benavent's sister).
Felipe Rosón Caleruega.
⠀⠀⠀ → His father, Theodoro Rosón plans to rebuild a public school again on top of the ruins of San Esteban's (Samu, Nadia & Christian's old school), this time by "legal means" to avoid the same fate as Ventura (Guzmán's father, who was arrested in S1), but still solely for the economic purposes that would result from such construction, and a new scholarship program that this new school would have with Las Encinas.*
⠀⠀⠀ → During the next season, the construction of this new institution would have finished, and we would have new scholarship recipients in Las Encinas, coming from this new school. This would be part of the "reboot" that the next generation would mean for Elite.
They make us believe that Rebeka (not Ari) is the main victim of this season... but she is not.
Armando's fate:
Characters' subplots this season:
Characters relationships this season:
Samuel + Ari + Guzmán.
Samuel and Ari's relationship would not be there just as one more of the season, but would serve as an element for the plot: Ari would have approached Samuel after learning that he was Christian's close friend (the accused in Polo's murder) to try to obtain information. However, her feelings towards him would become true over the course of the season, thus seeing a kind of development in her character, which would allow the public to empathize with her.
Rebeka + Mencía:
Patrick + Valerio:
Felipe ... + Cayetana?
By season finale, Guzmán drops out of school: he decides to join Nadia in the US.
****************************************************************************************************************************
So, that's it! My second take on a season 4 rewrite. Those who read my original post will have noticed that several things were literally a copy and paste of the original post. But I feel that it is the additions that I made thanks to the comments on that post that really end up giving the seasoning to this version ^-^

Assassin's Creed Mirage pleases but...
The developers of Mirage claim that the recently shown footage from the game doesn't really show anything. We have yet to see the full potential and awesomeness of the game. In the past few days, details about Mirage keep pouring out, despite Ubisoft trying to pretend, "Oh, don't look! It's a leak, we don't need to get ready for the celebration." Yet, they themselves came up with such an advertising campaign.
Hidden blade canon in a mirage?
I understand that there is a difference between these.

https://i.redd.it/o3w7namt4y3b1.gif

and with this

https://i.redd.it/7vz3j0iu4y3b1.gif
Not so obvious, but I'll explain the whole situation with the hidden blade. For some reason, what they show in Mirage isn't quite canonical, so that there are no lingering questions. So, let's go back to the beginning of 2008 when the developers were brainstorming ideas for the second installment. It was decided to make significant changes to the hidden blade to make it more useful and to align everything with the lore. Altaïr, a genius in his craft, became a master assassin at the age of 24 and felt constrained by the limitations of the brotherhood at that time. Therefore, when he became the Mentor, he made numerous changes, including the hidden blade, because what they had, so to speak, was what you might call "crap." The hidden blade among the assassins had always been a contraption made from crap and sticks. Quite inventive, but still a weak weapon.

https://preview.redd.it/5fy2p0rg3y3b1.png?width=1624&format=png&auto=webp&s=763f3b12d100f85efbe9f9298b3074539094ff5d
And the Ezio blade, crafted according to Altaïr's designs, is a cursed monster created for killing.

https://preview.redd.it/2tn30gbj3y3b1.png?width=1624&format=png&auto=webp&s=a010b4b0af5fe879e5558f13129f38440c9f3441
Altaïr cut off his finger. The design of the blade requires such a movement from the hand to trigger the mechanism, after which it clenches into a fist.

https://i.redd.it/cdyy3m405y3b1.gif
the blade can be launched as here

https://i.redd.it/aw09ru8v3y3b1.gif
But one thing remains unchanged: the Assassin's fingers would be in danger if they were all intact, as demonstrated by Bayek.

https://i.redd.it/7vsbn9s85y3b1.gif
The Ezio blade no longer poses a danger to the protagonist. It activates the mechanism and allows them to hold their fingers as they please. The same design is present in Basim's blade. The mistake in the DLC for Valhalla was that Kassandra was wearing an upgraded Assassin's blade long before the events of the first installment. Where did she get it from?

https://reddit.com/link/1404744/video/sqwtlvp64y3b1/player
In the Codex, Altaïr describes how he significantly improved the blade. It's not just a regular enhancement. Altaïr discovered how to create a new metal alloy using the Apple. He drew it and wrote down the formula. Creating this alloy is a complex task, and very few people know this secret.

https://preview.redd.it/ybqgvtcb4y3b1.png?width=1624&format=png&auto=webp&s=b96ccaf7014ae4f15ac67c6cf6f373afe85553a1
And such a blade would withstand weapon strikes. If it were struck in the first installment, it would have broken. In fact, it would break from anything—killing from a ledge, killing from a great height. These moves by Basim would be absolutely impossible with a regular blade. All these movements and techniques were developed by Altaïr for the improved blade that can withstand such maneuvers. Additionally, Basim wouldn't be able to penetrate armor, brutes, and other tricks because, theoretically, his blade should be very weak.

And yes, Altaïr also kills with an open palm, but he works with great finesse. He strikes only at vital parts of the body—heart, throat, liver, spine, brain. Because in other cases, it would be a futile jab or the blade could break. Yet here, Ezio with his blade pierces through armor, even that of the papal guard.
https://reddit.com/link/1404744/video/w4yzsd7h4y3b1/player
That's why I'm talking about the design of Basim's blade—how he activates it, how he utilizes its technical characteristics, and so on. All of this pertains specifically to Ezio's blade, not the same blade that the Assassins of Alamut in the 9th century should have had.
It's reminiscent of the Odyssey DLC when Darius came up with Assassins equipped with hidden blades. And then Bayek, approximately 400 years later, came up with the exact same thing. Meanwhile, Darius had no knowledge of what Bayek had done, and the fact that Altaïr was supposed to invent it centuries later was invisible to him.
Well, I don't know, Basim's blade is just peculiar. Its length also raises questions. What to do with such a little knife resembling a toothpick, I have no idea.

https://preview.redd.it/s2qcbd2x5y3b1.png?width=1624&format=png&auto=webp&s=03cde34962a11813904fbb2c1314cfac27164aea
Storyline
Let's talk about the new details of Mirage. The developers are keeping a lot about the plot under wraps, but some things have leaked out. The game will feature several storylines, explicitly delving into Basim's backstory for the first time. We will be shown how an ordinary thief transformed into an Assassin and how it affected his life and the lives of his friends. For instance, there will be a character named Hadiya in the game.

https://preview.redd.it/ynkb2r516y3b1.png?width=811&format=png&auto=webp&s=6b578a418c2f4ca07d7b6977e3aa48fa801b938e
According to the game's IMDb page, it was voiced by Sophia Laney.

https://preview.redd.it/2t3qfex26y3b1.png?width=669&format=png&auto=webp&s=313111d68bd9fc53bcdf6c267166ee477a4b4f31
This is a girl thief, a friend and comrade of Basim, and indeed the thieves, as a faction, are making a comeback. We will have contact with them. And yes, don't expect the character and cutscene models in the game to be impressive; they will still be terrible.
Now, the second storyline of Mirage will mirror the plot of Valhalla to some extent. In other words, this game will showcase the transformation of the Order of the Ancients into the Templars. And in Mirage, they will show the final transformation of the Hidden Ones into Assassins. This will be the game's value in terms of lore. Let's see how they execute all of this.
The third storyline is set in modern times, but it plays a nominal role. It will be something similar to Unity and Syndicate, which is quite disappointing. The developers will provide more information about the story in an upcoming story trailer, which will be released very soon. For now, they are teasing us, showing, for example, Basim's journey from Alamut to Baghdad. It's quite epic, reminiscent of Mad Max. Overall, the game's marketing campaign is pretty good, with the developers giving us various snippets of information that make us eager to play the game. They even recently let us listen to some of the soundtracks, which were recorded by a New York Arab orchestra.
orchestra
The main theme is quite melancholic, and it's not just a random choice, as the developers themselves say. It fully reflects the mood of the game. So, expect a rather serious narrative. By the way, for those who love maximum immersion, there will be Arabic voice acting available.

Gameplay
In terms of gameplay, the game takes a lot from the second installment. The same factions, once again, make a return. You can hire thieves, mercenaries, and more. The wanted system is also making a comeback. Here, you can see a poster of Basim.

https://preview.redd.it/a360fu1h6y3b1.png?width=1143&format=png&auto=webp&s=820c1806c7054111e1be59430273ceef65ac57d8
Personally, I really hope they improve the system. I liked what they had in the second installment, but it could be made more interesting. Currently, the mechanics only give you debuffs. The higher your wanted level, the more frequent the attacks on you. In Mirage, the developers have made some changes to these debuffs and added several wanted levels. I approve of this, but I also hope that the system will provide you with different buffs. For example, if you have a low wanted level, it should be harder to find you. The blending circle expands and contracts based on the wanted level. If you approach everything stealthily, they could give you Assassin points, like in Unity, which can be used at the Assassin base to buy new weapons, outfits, colors, and clothing dyes. By the way, the return of clothing dyes is confirmed. Some colors will be given if you watch the Ubisoft presentation livestream on Twitch on June 12th.. XD
Regarding the assassination moment shown in the trailer, it demonstrates one of the options for eliminating the target in a Black Box mission.
https://i.redd.it/y4avqpga7y3b1.gif
So to speak, it's like in Unity where you are given different options for eliminating the target, and you can do it your own way. But while Unity had 3-4 different assassination options, Mirage will have dozens, and the more you learn about the target, the more possibilities you'll have in this regard. The developers drew strong inspiration from Hitman, and I'm genuinely curious to see what they've done because it sounds cool on paper. Many people are already saying, "See, here you can choose how to kill the target, it's all about choice in Assassin's Creed. I told you it's canon, so what are you blabbering about in your videos, saying there's no choice in Assassin's Creed?"
Honestly, in a way, this nonsense amuses me, but at the same time, it saddens me. People don't want to understand the simplest concept: there are Events A and B, let's say you woke up and went to work. These events are facts, they cannot be changed, you can't alter the memories to make it so you didn't go to work when you did, and your colleague spilled coffee on you.
Well, to avoid frying your brain, the Animus doesn't require it to have 100% accurate information, like "the person woke up, scratched their butt, then stared at the ceiling for five minutes, and then took a shower." You get the idea. Instead, the Animus allows you to reach that workplace in different ways depending on the memories associated with it. For example, you could have commuted to work by car, bus, or subway. The Animus may give you the ability to shuffle these memories because they all serve one purpose - getting you to work. There's nothing interesting in these memories, you didn't memorize the exact route for each case because the insignificant memories, so to speak, blend together. That's how the brain works.
So yes, Basim can assassinate the target in different ways, whether it was raining or windy, and whether he killed 7 targets with a sword or a blade. In the end, what remains unchanged is that the target was killed. Therefore, the essence of the events cannot be changed because then they wouldn't be memories.
Sorry for the lengthy speech. Well, sometimes interesting people show up in the comments, and for them, an Easter egg in the second installment is proof that mythical monsters always existed in Syria.
It's been so many years, but I'm still shocked by these people. By the way, there will be around 5 main targets for assassination in the game, and after killing each one, you'll be given a unique type of weapon. So, it's like in the first installment: we'll start as a beggar with a single sword, and gradually acquire cooler weapons. Essentially, this will replace the leveling system in the game. It won't exist, although they'll introduce about 10-15 perks. Obtaining them will unlock new abilities in combat, stealth, and more. Hopefully, the perks won't be acquired through training in the courtyard of Alamut.

https://i.redd.it/hskoh3027y3b1.gif
Of course, it matters that Ubisoft hasn't been releasing the best games in recent years. So, in principle, my expectations are not very high. Well, plus, I liked a statement made by the blogger Leo K [Rogue] regarding Mirage.
https://www.youtube.com/@LeoKRogue
People were expecting in 2017 that Origins would be such a game, and I agree. If it were 2017 now, I would probably be screaming with joy. But it's 2023, and a lot has changed. But, darn it, look at it from another perspective. People praise the Assassin's Creed series for having elements of Assassin's Creed, as if it should be something default. Yes, the game interests me, I've already made 10 videos about it. But I can't say that the series has somehow returned to its roots and found a clear direction for further development. Because it's not the case. For example, if we take something like God of War, we know that this guy has a plan for the series, there is a direction in which he is moving.

https://preview.redd.it/4zu4mbvf7y3b1.png?width=1441&format=png&auto=webp&s=c9a2b83328579808c2ba811a3d25e755a130f029
An assassin doesn't have that. The next games will again be large RPGs, like Valhalla. So Mirage is more of a one-time thing, with a greater emphasis on newcomers rather than hardcore fans. I look at the same parkour and realize that it's the mechanics from a game in 2007, but much better developed with more beautiful animations. The new Assassins were supposed to be an evolution of the series' ideas, where there would be not just 15 parkour moves like in the first installment, but 40 or even 50, so that I would be amazed by the possibilities and parkour combinations. Instead, I sit here and wonder, will there even be a simple backward jump in the game?

https://i.redd.it/jdi5wi6d7y3b1.gif
Please add that feature from Prince of Persia 2003, it was just awesome. So the game is a light spin-off that plays on nostalgia, and I'm also easily inclined towards it. So yes, I'm excited about the game, but there's a caveat, so to speak. I hope I've clarified everything, so we're in agreement. We're looking forward to the game demo, story trailers, new artwork, and music on June 12th. They will also showcase the release gameplay of the mobile Assassin and the Assassin on the viara. It's likely to be filled with fan service, like missions featuring Altair, Ezio, and others. We'll discuss all of this soon. Show your support with an upvote if you enjoyed it, and see you soon, guys.

2023.06.04 06:10 OhDatsStanky Cross Country Ninja - Day 4

Cross Country Ninja - Day 4
Out early and rolling! The bike was getting just at 60mpg yesterday but my first tank of the day sucked. 50mpg. Couldn’t figure it out. Next two tanks were both over 60mpg. All three running the same 70-71mph. Finally figured it must’ve been the elevation.
Anyway, scooter was humming down through Beatty towards Death Valley. Forecast app said it would be 87. I showed up an hour behind schedule and it was 100 (at 1030am) and climbing fast. I changed clothes fast, chugged water, and evacuated. Glad to say though that the bike didn’t seem to mind. Cooling system kept up until I made it out of the valley. That place just looks life threatening. It was intimidating.
Temperature cooled off coming out of the valley then heated right back up going into Las Vegas. Decided to check out the Hoover Dam, what a dumb tourist trap. Hari Krishna everywhere, waddling sunburned tourists pouring out of their Winnebagos, and everyone going nowhere fast. Saturday was not the day to go. Snapped a crappy pic and hauled ass.
Was really worried about the clutch. Low speed maneuvering through the human cattle got something hot enough to make that hot metal smell. Engine and brakes were great, so I assume it was the clutch. Fortunately no damage.
This is when the heat got me. Shut me down for an hour north of Kingman, and I was in bad shape. I think I had the beginnings of heat exhaustion. Recovered and made a run for Flagstaff. It cooled off and I had the best luck outrunning the rain.
625 miles. My ass is kicked, but the bike is ready for more tomorrow!
Oh yeah, one last thing. I’m now getting 62-64mpg running 75-80mph. Granted it’s all highway, but what an incredible machine!

2023.06.04 06:07 Cultural-Climate-311 HealthMaxxing 101: Basic Nutrition

Hi lovelies,I wanted to start a series on basic guides for healthmaxxing topics based on data/science. This is what I am going to focus on and write up some basic guides for people over the coming month. I plan to write some posts on the basics of nutrition; exercise (strength training, cardio and flexibility), skincare, haircare; hygiene; sleep and also other health related guides and will include all easy to read references on the side so you can actually verify things (much easier than journal articles which requires some basic knowledge of stats and metrics).Prior to getting into this, I want to say all of these are my recommendations based on what I've researched and experienced (been doing this for a while and wrote up an extensive data driven guided for myself ages ago which worked for me).I know everyone has individual circumstances/experiences and so want to preface by saying whatever works for you is great but please try and make discussions/comments below value add for others reading with any data/scientific basis if you are suggesting. As a refreshe//I've written previously, my recommendations for your glow up journey starts with
Cycle 1: high reward/low risk cosmetic procedures and development of a basic grooming routine to get some confidence and feel better about yourself (about 3 months)Cycle 2: Healthmaxxing over a prolonged period (6 months - 1 year) to get yourself at the epitome of health that you can maintain for hopefully the rest of your life.Cycle 3: Hardmaxxing. Once you are at the epitome of health + have a fantastic grooming routine, you can start your surgery journey if need be and intelligently make decisions on what you actually need/have the health basis to recover.*** then cycle through again and again as you learn more.
Basic Nutrition 101Healthy Plate:

Suggestion: Eat a variety such as eggs/canned fish breakfast, beans/poultry lunch, salmon/tofu dinner. For cheap easy eats, grain bowls with legumes and tinned fish on toast with picked vegetables is a good go.
Vegetables:
After doing an analysis via cronometer on the best foods for various micro intakes (highest amounts and most efficient), here is what I came up with:
What can be concluded from the above about things that come up the most:

What I personally like to do to stay within calorie limit and meet targets
Use two apps:
For my meal plan:
I personally find it difficult to have a new meal for all three meals and don't like to spend so much time cooking and having to come up with creative ways to meet micro goals (it's hard because there are so many). So instead I spent a few hours on cronometer to experiment several basic meals I can have during my day to hit most of my micro goals and give myself room for dinner to choose something healthy that isn't so strict.
For me this looks like a:
** I always track my calories to make sure i'm eating well and this keeps me full.

"Research conducted at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health has found that eating even small amounts of red meat—especially processed red meat—on a regular basis is linked to an increased risk of heart disease and stroke, and the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease or any other cause. [4-6] Conversely, replacing red and processed red meat with healthy protein sources such as beans, soy foods, nuts, fish, or poultry seems to reduce these risks. One of the reasons why plant sources of protein are related to lower risk of cardiovascular disease compared to protein from red meat and dairy is because of the different types of fat in these protein packages. Plant-based protein sources are more unsaturated, which lowers LDL cholesterol—an established risk factor for heart disease. Also, plant sources contain no cholesterol. Other factors are likely to contribute to the lower risk, but this is a key factor."

• One investigation followed 120,000 men and women in the Nurses’ Health Study and Health Professionals Follow-Up Study for more than two decades. For every additional 3-ounce serving of unprocessed red meat the study participants consumed each day, their risk of dying from cardiovascular disease increased by 13%. [5]
Processed red meat was even more strongly linked to dying from cardiovascular disease—and in smaller amounts: every additional 1.5 ounce serving of processed red meat consumed each day (equivalent to one hot dog or two strips of bacon) was linked to a 20% increase in the risk of cardiovascular disease death.
Cutting back on red meat could save lives: the researchers estimated that if all the men and women in the study had reduced their total red and processed red meat intake to less than half a serving a day, one in ten cardiovascular disease deaths would have been prevented.
• In another study of 43,000 men that looked at both amount and sources of protein found that intake of total protein was minimally associated with heart disease risk, but intake of protein from red meat was associated with higher risk. [7]
• In the Nurse’s Health Study and the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study, every additional serving per day of red meat or processed red meat was associated with a 10% and 16% higher risk of cancer death, respectively. [5]
• In October 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO)’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) concluded that consumption of processed meat is “carcinogenic to humans,” and that consumption of red meat is “probably carcinogenic to humans.” [18] The IARC Working Group (comprised of 22 scientists from ten countries) reached these conclusions from an evaluation of over 800 studies.
Conclusions were primarily based on the evidence for colorectal cancer. Data also showed positive associations between processed meat consumption and stomach cancer, and between red meat consumption and pancreatic and prostate cancer.
• A 2014 study also found a link between high consumption of red meat during adolescence and premenopausal breast cancer, while higher intakes of poultry, nuts, and legumes were associated with lower risk. Using data on the health of 89,000 women (aged 24 to 43) followed over a 20-year period, researchers found a 22% higher risk of breast cancer in those who ate 1.5 servings of red meat per day while in high school, compared to those who only had one serving per week. Each additional daily serving of red meat seemed to increase the risk of breast cancer by another 13%. [19]
• A 2011 study found that people who ate diets high in red meat, especially processed red meat, had a higher risk of type 2 diabetes than those who rarely ate red or processed meat. [12] For each additional serving a day of red meat or processed red meat that study participants ate, their risk of diabetes rose 12% and 32%, respectively. Investigators also found that replacing a serving of red meat with one serving of nuts, low-fat dairy products, or whole grains each day was associated with an estimated 16% to 35% lower risk of type 2 diabetes.
• A related study also found that people who started eating more red meat than usual were had a 50% higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes during the next four years, and researchers also found that those who reduced red meat consumption had a 14% lower risk of type 2 diabetes over a 10-year follow-up period. 2023.06.04 06:00 AutoModerator Weekly Q&A - Your Question Goes Here - Especially Tourists and New Residents

This is the place for anyone to ask questions about Amsterdam. If you are a tourist visiting Amsterdam, you are moving to or recently arrived in Amsterdam, or you just have a basic question about life in Amsterdam and want some advice, this is the place to post your question. This post is refreshed every week on Sunday. Please feel free to repost in subsequent weeks.
READ THE WIKI FIRST. The people answering questions are locals who want to share the city they love with visitors, but only with people who make an effort. Read at least the Essential Tourist Information in our world-famous wiki before you ask a question. Otherwise, you may be told to go back and read it. The wiki is written by us, and updated when relevant. If the entries are old it's because nothing has changed.
HOTELS ARE EXPENSIVE AND WE DON'T HAVE GOOD ADVICE ON THEM. Because we live here, we don't know what the best hotels are. Amsterdam is one of the most touristed cities in the world and has the highest hotel prices in Europe. There really isn't a secret "cheap" solution.
TOURISTS CAN PURCHASE MARIJUANA, DESPITE WHAT YOU READ IN FOREIGN PRESS. Understand that the coffeeshops are just a tiny part of Amsterdam, so posts that treat Amsterdam like it's the Las Vegas of drugs sometimes get a negative response. We're happy to give you advice about coffeeshops and to discuss drug policy. The experts are our friends at /AmsterdamEnts, ask them the big questions.
WE DON'T HELP WITH ILLEGAL STUFF AND WILL BAN YOU FOR ASKING. We will not help you with things that are clearly illegal. Coffeeshops caught selling to minors get shut down and everyone loses their jobs. Authorities check for people smuggling marijuana out of the country. Hard drugs are illegal and so is asking for or selling them on Reddit.
WE DON'T ALLOW TICKET SALES OR TRADING. We do not allow selling, buying, or trading tickets on /Amsterdam due to the high rate of fraud. You should do everything on ticketswap.nl. We're aware that is difficult to get tickets to Anne Frank, van Gogh, etc. We have no solutions for you, sorry.
DOE AARDIG. There is Dutch directness and there is rudeness. The people coming here don't know how we do things, and are usually well-meaning people who just want to enjoy the city we love. Be kind to them. For the tourists and new residents, please remember that we are not Google; respect our time by doing some basic research first and then asking your questions like you're speaking to a real human who is volunteering to speak to you.
Here is what's on at the major venues this week.

2023.06.04 05:27 NormalScratch1241 S7E16 Logan and Rory

Don't get me wrong, I really feel for Logan that he took a risk on an investment and it backfired; I understand why he'd feel guilty that he'd lost so much money, embarrassed that he made such a bad business call, and apprehensive over his dad's inevitable backlash (as it was stated a few episodes earlier that his dad had advised him against it, despite helping him).
However, I LOATHE how Logan tells Rory that he doesn't feel up to spending a couple hours at Lane's baby shower. This is Rory's childhood best friend that she's known for almost her entire life. The party was planned by Rory and Lorelai. It was only a few hours long, and it was clearly extremely important to Rory that Logan go with her. So Logan makes a flimsy excuse that he's "just not up to it," but then in the next breath, he turns around and tells her that he's going to go spend a few days with Colin and Finn in Las Vegas. Like what??? I understand needing a break from his every day life to just forget about it for a little while, but he really couldn't have made the effort to be there for Rory and catch a flight to Vegas the next day? Would it really have been so hard?
Plus, it's so odd how he chose such a busy day to finally break the news to her. He apparently hid it for weeks, and yet he chose a supremely busy day in her life -- where she had stressful coffee meeting planned with a New York Times editor and then immediately had to book it to Stars Hollow -- to throw this at her. Again, I sympathize with what Logan is feeling, but that's so wildly inconsiderate of Rory, as well. Even how he told her, making her sit down and listen to him when he knew she needed to be in Stars Hollow as soon as possible, was so selfish.
Overall, as far as Rory's boyfriends go, I don't despise Logan, especially in later seasons, but this is something that really bothers me about him. I dislike Mitchum, but when he snaps at Logan in the next episode to get his act together, go down to the office like an adult, and do something productive to sort out a mess that Logan is ultimately responsible for, I found myself agreeing with him for the first time. This felt like a huge setback for Logan's character, not just in a professional sense of him reverting back to being frivolous and unproductive, but in his relationship with Rory. He didn't have to be perfect, but he could have been more considerate of her.

2023.06.04 04:39 kays731 Sad about starting solids..

I feel like a crazy person. My LO is 4 months and we decided against our pediatrician’s advice to start fruit purées and wait until 6 months to start solids. From our own research this seems like the best option. She’s a big baby (93rd percentile) and my MIL keeps telling me to give her rice cereal to help her sleep better. I just nod because she has a two year old and I hate to bring up the different articles we found saying it’s better for all of their intake to be from breast milk or formula for 6 months. The problem is that I start crying at almost every meal because I’m so sad that our “exclusive” feeding relationship is almost over. I thought 6 months would be slower but we are almost to that milestone. Im a SAHM so it’s very rare that anyone else feeds her and it’s always my freshly pumped milk. I have a huge freezer stash that I made the first two months that I will probably have to donate (hopefully I can, it’s not tested or anything) because we are always together. I don’t know, I may feel differently July 17 and I know I’ll enjoy preparing meals for her but I’ll just be sad I’m not completely sustaining her anymore. Is there anyone else that feels like this? I feel crazy. Does this feeling get better? She’s super interested in foods and drink and has taken an open cup of breast milk (with help of course) and tiny breast milk popsicles and really enjoys that. She loves being at the table with us and babbles a lot.
