Review of Dian Hong Fengqing Wudao pancake tea by Yunnan Yiteng Tea Industry Co. Ltd.
I've found this tea randomly on Ebay, decided it looked good enough to give it a try. To my surprise what arrived was a very thin large cake around 5-6 mm thick.
Next to pu-erh pick to visualise how thin it is.
On opening, you are definitely welcomed with typical Dian Hong aroma, sweet, malty, honeyish with a very faint citrus top notes.
Close up shot of 5.3g portion.
The cake is quite flexible, you can easily grab some and wiggle it away with minimal leaf breakage.
I brewed it gong fu style, 5.3g per 100 ml water at 90 degree Celsius.
Resulting liquor has a lively amber copper colour, very deep and satisfying.
Liquor colour in plain cup.
First brew opens very malty, cocoa and hay/herbaceous tones with something I can only describe as vegetal.
Consecutive brews bring back and forth caramel, malt and cocoa with those citrus tops. Absolutely zero astringency or bitterness. I'd judge it well worth it's £9 price tag!

when i had gusto dolce it contained many drinks like chocolate cappuccino mocha tea but it broke down a while ago and we got rid of it
We have a nespresso now and I'm wondering if there are capsules for other drinks, I've searched but can't find anything but coffee or it's just not popular I don't know

2023.06.04 19:02 GozerDestructor Premium users, join the fight!

I love Reddit. I spend hours every day here (probably too much, really). It's the backdrop for my morning tea, and usually the last thing I read before bed. I don't even use third party apps, as I find the desktop web site perfectly usable (with ads blocked)
I became a Premium user about a year and a half ago - it turns off the ads, especially those noxious religious ones everyone has been complaining about lately, and I'm supporting a community I believe in.
On June 12th I will cancel my Reddit Premium subscription. It's annual, so the effects won't kick in immediately, but they're going to see a decline in subscriptions on their dashboard apps and in their spreadsheets. Let's make it a huge decline, such a huge and dramatic drop in the squiggly line, that the bean-counters will be able to see it from orbit.
Who else will cancel Premium on the day of the protest?

2023.06.04 18:59 empressmeokay At Home Starbucks Recommendation

So, I love Starbucks but my budget doesn’t always allow it. My go to is a blonde shaken espresso with oatmilk and dark caramel. Recently, my barista put me on to cold brew with vanilla sweet cold foam and extra oat milk. I found this cold brew maker from Aldi and want to give it a try. Can anyone recommend the right coffee bean ( photos or a direct link would be great!) so I can try to replicate the same thing please?

2023.06.04 18:56 oycetheoyster Trip Recap 5/28-6/3

We spent six nights in New Orleans. Originally, we booked the Marriott off of Canal but had issues (broken toilet and no additional rooms) and thankfully was able to move across the street to the JW Marriott. It was so much nicer, newer and cleaner (thanks chase!)
Breakfast: Bearcat CBD: Really delicious. Had the cat daddy and the blue crab omelet. Great coffee. ~30 min wait but worth it
Willa Jean: Also very delicious. Had the crawfish roll and shrimp and grits. Lots of crawfish. If I had to nitpick, the shrimp was a little overcooked but still tasty
Beignets (fav to least fav order) 1. Cafe du Monde (French market): crispy, good texture, airy but not too airy, great ratio of powder sugar to beignet. This is what I think of when I think of a beignet. However, I would say the fry is inconsistent. You don’t always get crispy.
  1. Loretta’s: I’d describe this more as a toaster strudel style beignet. It’s more flaky. Delicious and crispy. It gets the 2nd spot bc when I think of beignet, I don’t expect flaky.
  2. Marriot Lounge: This was our dark horse. It was a random beignet we ate in the buffet lounge our first morning. We didn’t even take a picture. It scared us bc we had quite a few beignet duds for the first few days and thought this was our favorite for awhile. Good representation of a pillowy beignet. The sugar to beignet ratio was good. Missing some crispiness.
  3. Cafe du Monde City Park: We may have gotten a bad batch. Kinda denser and larger holes to the point where there was not much inside. Nice crispy crust though.
  4. Criollo at the hotel Monteleone:This was another toaster strudel type of beignet. Good but not crispy like Loretta’s.
  5. Cafe beignet Royal St: this is another example of a pillowy beignet but too much dough to sugar ratio. Tighter crumb. Didn’t feel like eating more than 1.
  6. The Vintage: I really was looking forward to this one. We may have gotten a bad batch, but it was literally empty inside. Like a shell of a beignet. It was a nice crispy crust though. Maybe would have been better to get a filled one.
Mains Willie Chicken Shack: ate this the first night since our flight was delayed. Freshly fried. Really great for late night.
Felix Lakefront: grilled oysters were good. We got a cup of gumbo and it was fine but forgettable.
High Hat: We ate here bc it was near cure. Really delicious. The gulf shrimp was one of our favorite bites from our trip. They make a good pie too.
Cochon: the bread and the sauce from the wood fired oysters was one of our top bites. Oysters themselves lacked some smoky flavor and were a bit overcooked.
Dakar: we went for Wednesday family night. Delicious seafood. Loved it. Went to second vine wine before dinner and they recommended us a great bottle of chenin blanc.
Compere Lapin: I love top chef and Nina but was a bit disappointed. We had to send back the tuna tartare bc it was too salty. I think they cure it. The second one was not much better and lacking acidity. Pig ears were also too salty. Pork belly and fried chicken with coconut grits were great. Could have used some heat. I found the pasta a little fishy but cooked well.
Gris gris: shrimp and grits were delicious. Whole red fish was ok, lacked seasoning, tomato sauce tasted like it came straight from the can. Great espresso martini.
Drinks: Jewel of the south: kinda hit or miss. Drinks were maybe overly complex where it just tasted like a good punch.
Cure: this was our favorite. Interesting and innovative cocktails but also delicious. Would go back.
French 75 bar: had a French 75 and matcha colada. It was good but nothing to write home about.
For gin fizz, we went to bar tonique and bourbon o bar. Bar tonique was better.
Overall, had an amazing trip. We had 120+ bookmarks and only made a small dent. We at so much good food, and loved walking and exploring. This was mostly a food post but just wanted to mention that city park was amazing. The sculpture garden is so good. Can’t wait to come back.

2023.06.04 18:55 shoggyseldom Pop Strata and Needs being pinned to their Profession+Culture doesn't really work that well

I'm assuming everyone here has seen the usual "Upper Strata is unemployed and broke while lower strata are well off" that comes with a glorious worker's paradise, as well as all the annoying issues that come from goods (specifically Art) having no local market.
The System™ as it currently stands is awkwardly inflexible, assuming that wealth and access to goods doesn't change behavior. For instance, despite having wealth rivaling Capitalists and Aristocrats no mere "Bureaucrat" would ever consider themselves Upper Strata or waste their limited funds on Luxury Clothes, Art, or Coffee. It's strictly Tea, Luxury Furniture, and Porcelain for them!
Now lets compare this with a relatively simple economic sim game, everyone's favorite Corrupt Caribbean Hellhole Simulator™ Tropico (specifically 3 and 4, because they're my favorites), which breaks a similar set of needs down by their actual purposes such as Food Quality, Housing, Entertainment, and Religion. While comparatively crude in a lot of ways, what Tropico does well is make it so Pops can fill their Needs with whatever is available within their budget, so when they go off to fill their Entertainment need if there's a trendy Nightclub they can afford and has room, they'll go there, but otherwise they'll settle for a cheap Pub or Restaurant while whining about the lower quality. In Victoria system, the Nightclub and Pup customers are determined beforehand and would never dream of venturing outside their assigned recreational activity, which is awkward and frustrating for a game advertising itself as an socio-economic simulator.
As a side effect of this rigid system, you have the "fun" situation where there's no consumer market for things like Oil, Rubber, Cars, Radios, Tools, or anything else that you can produce but not use outside of a factory until you've researched the requisite techs and ham-fistedly converted your whole production system. This of course brings up the similarly rigid production system, which has no allowance for scaling and adapting production methods with supply and demand, but lets not go down that rabbit hole today. Or the rabbit holes for Trade (and the AI's utter failure to understand it) or Migration.
As usual, today's whining has no real purpose other than shouting at clouds, but at least it fills my "be righteously upset on the internet about something which I don't control" need.

2023.06.04 18:51 KatieROTS What do you guys drink after surgery? One of mine is a no no- info below

First let me say I’m 6 days sober (which was totally not on the diet.)
I drink a 12oz mini bottle of Coke Zero a day (this is my cheat drink obviously). Sometimes more but usually not many. On vacation I go overboard :)
Next I’ll start by saying I really dislike water. I know I need it so I started using simply lemon. That was a little better. Then I found out there is a simply orange! So here’s my drink (this is silly but I had to get a kick ass water bottle to get me to keep up and to enjoy it. Also ice is a MUST so it has an insulation sleeve. It holds two regular waters). - full water bottle 3/4 with ice, add water, simply orange and a splash (or a little more) of OJ. So good.
Any suggestions? (I don’t like seltzer)
Also random but before surgery I drank almost a gallon of diet tea a day. After surgery can’t stand the taste. Same with coffee.

2023.06.04 18:23 jmergee Help: Recipes for Gallstones

Hi, fellow gallbladder sufferers! I'm 23, and I was diagnosed with gallstones last March with my first episodes starting in January. I also suffer from IBS and occasional acid reflux. My doctor has suggested I avoid the following foods: fats, fried foods, red meat, spices, tomatoes, citrus, dairy, coffee, alcohol, fizzy drinks, and energy drinks. I have been religiously following his advice but from March up until now, I have only been having pasta for lunch and plain chicken breast and salad for dinner, and cashew nuts for snacking. I'd really appreciate it if you could share some of the recipes you relied on! I'm a big foodie, and while I know these restrictions are for my health, they have really taken away my enjoyment of food.
(I still have no scheduled date for surgery and where I'm from, I know someone who waited four years for their surgery. It might take a while, and I definitely think I'll transform into a chicken if it's the only meat I can have for dinner.)

2023.06.04 17:49 Simiram Today I ate a full meal by the coffee table for the first time in months. Bean is a soon-to-be no begging school graduate!

I’ve been wondering if I’d ever be able to desensitize Bean to human food and how strong nurture would be over nature in this sense.
He’s always been begging and sticking his nose in my food and stealing at any opportunity. Being a beagle, basically. Well, while I could live with it due to the nature of his breed, I had no intention to entertain it.
What I’ve learned having had dogs a good chunk of my life is that you can’t have it both ways. You cannot feed your dog human food without them expecting it, begging for it or stealing. So what I did was mostly nothing. I never fed him off the table, never gave in or even acknowledged his attempts. He never had access to human food on his terms: if he picked something off the floor while I cooked, I would immediately make him spit it out even if it’s otherwise safe for dogs. I would make sure that anyone who encountered Bean for an extended time knew that if they fall for his cute eyes once, I will have to deal with it for years.
Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been somewhat successfully eating small, mostly handheld for better control, things on the couch: a bagel, mochi ice cream, etc. I used not to be able to do that at all.
Today was a real test. Leftover Thai food. And Bean was just okay. He looked at it, made a quiet little bark a couple of times, made a very passive “why do I even bother” attempt to stick his nose there, but this was it. After that he proceeded to mind his own business. Though in a rush, as if not to give it enough time to ruin the progress, I was able to finish a full plate of drunken noodles with chicken, and even leave the empty plate on the coffee table for 40 seconds before putting it away.
So we’re maturing! Yay!
P.S. Bean has a very diverse diet with veggies, fruits and some fresh home cooked food. But it never comes from the table or because he demanded it!

2023.06.04 17:49 _the_Nazgul_ Hey, New in Bangalore. Looking to make friends..

Hello reddit
I'm new to the city, I've found a little 1bhk in Hulimavu/Akshaynagar and I'm settling in. But that feeling of boredom has started creeping in in only 1 week. My friends live in the other side of the city and i can't meet them frequently for a quick tea or something. So would be nice to make a few friends in this area..
About me - I'm a 32 y/o male from Kolkata, working in an MNC. I don't party as such, maybe house parties are fine. I love riding bikes. I like dark humour. I like watching movies, I'm looking forward to seeing Transformers, Flash and most importantly Oppenheimer.
Let me know if anyone's around this area who is free for a tea/coffee/hookah/beers someday. P.s. don't suggest going to clubs to find people, that's not my thing.

2023.06.04 17:06 idontevenknow47 I had a really pleasant dream about the zombie apocalypse this morning.

My dream started out as your generic zombie apocalypse. Lots of screaming, lots of running, lots of gore. It was exhausting and terrifying, but I couldn't complain because I still had my husband with me, unlike so many people who lost their loved ones. We had this stupid joke about how he was the buns and I was the hamburger patty, and together we made the perfect team.
After a few years of camping in the dirt, eating cold beans, and constantly being terrified, we heard there was a chance to escape to a safe zone. A plane was taking off from a nearby airport and all we had to do was get there. Unfortunately, the airport was filled with zombies. We tried to sneak around, but eventually one scented us. After running for what felt like ages, we reached a dead end in an employee break room. We crawled into the storage lockers to hide, but the zombies broke down the doors and started attacking. There was terrifying pain and horror and then darkness.
And then I woke up, feeling like I got the world's deepest sleep and could smell coffee and bacon being cooked in the next room. I climbed out of the locker, and everything was beautiful, bright, and colorful, like a spring morning after the rain. I wondered towards the delicious smell and stepped into a room full of strangers. I didn't know who anyone was, but instantly felt happy, like greeting long lost family. My husband stepped around the corner, kissed me good morning, and started introducing me to everyone. We settled in for breakfast as everyone explained what was happening.
It turns out that being a zombie is great. There's no pain and suffering, you're immortal, and you essentially participate in a pleasant mass hallucination with all other zombies. We don't even need to eat humans. That's just us trying to be kind and spread the joy to the grubby, twitchy, shrieking little humans we run into every now and then. Most of zombie life is just chilling, hanging out with friends, and having fun.
That breakfast is the start of several days of joy and peace. Eventually we decide to go to a big zombie event with live music, games, and other entertainment. We run into my aunt who happily greets me and tells me she just saw my mom the other day, who's doing great and only lost one eye when a soldier tried to attack her. At this point, I notice my shoulders and upper chest are completely crushed from the attack in the locker. I'm surprised to realize that it doesn't hurt at all, and realize a lot of my friends are also equally injured, yet somehow it doesn't look gross or freak me out.
Then I turn back to the conversation with my aunt, who mentions she's surprised to see me with my husband. Most of us get rid of our human ties when we become zombies. He laughs and says, of course we're still together, she's my hamburger, and pulls me close for a kiss.
And then I woke up in a surge of happiness and contentment to find my husband was spooning me IRL.

2023.06.04 16:59 snapsigma Ikaria Lean Belly Juice: The Ultimate Solution for Healthy Weight Loss

Are you tired of struggling to lose belly fat? Do rigid diets and intense workouts feel overwhelming and unsustainable? Look no further—Ikaria Lean Belly Juice is here to revolutionize your weight loss journey. This remarkable powdered supplement not only aids in weight loss but also protects your body from harmful free radicals, lowers blood pressure, boosts metabolism, and suppresses cravings. With its unique formulation and organic, vegetarian ingredients, Ikaria Lean Belly Juice is the perfect solution for those seeking a healthy and sustainable approach to weight loss.

How Does Ikaria Lean Belly Juice Powder Work?

Excessive amounts of ceramides, a type of lipid molecule, are a leading cause of weight gain in many individuals. These ceramides promote fat storage and slow down metabolism. However, Ikaria Lean Belly Juice contains ingredients specifically designed to block the formation of ceramide-producing enzymes and facilitate the breakdown of existing ceramides. This targeted approach promotes healthy weight loss by eliminating these harmful molecules from your body.
In addition to removing ceramide, Ikaria Lean Belly Juice supports the body's natural fat-burning mechanism. Ingredients such as EGCG, African mango extract, and hibiscus have been scientifically proven to boost metabolism and enhance fat burning. Incorporating these ingredients into your daily routine can burn fat throughout the day and achieve faster weight loss. Moreover, the inclusion of Bioperine®, Resveratrol, and Blackcurrant Extract in Ikaria Lean Belly Juice helps block fat production, allowing your liver to focus on burning existing fat instead.

What are the Ingredients used in Ikaria Lean Belly Juice?

The carefully selected ingredients in Ikaria Lean Belly Juice play a vital role in promoting weight loss. Let's take a closer look at some of the key components:
  1. Milk Thistle: This biennial plant produces silymarin, a powerful herbal remedy that helps the liver detoxify itself from excessive ceramides and break down stubborn fat.
  2. Dandelion: Known for its slimming properties, dandelion aids in the removal of excess ceramides. Its prebiotic fiber insulin supports digestion and relieves constipation.
  3. Capsaicin: This ingredient boosts the body's metabolic rate, facilitating faster fat burning and providing an energy boost.
  4. Fucoxanthin: Derived from brown seaweed is a potent carotenoid that has been shown to alleviate the signs of diabetes, cancer, and obesity. It also protects brain cells.
  5. Pectin Oranges: Citrus pectin, obtained from citrus fruits, is a potent antioxidant that purifies the blood, removes heavy metals, and promotes healthy cell function.
  6. Chinese Ginseng: Well-known for its healing properties, it increases energy levels and aids in weight loss by shrinking fat cells.

2023.06.04 16:57 atteatime Looking to make a list of any time Taylor has referenced food.

The credit for the beginning of this list goes to u/eyeslikeajungle in a comment from a while ago. They don't know anything about this, I just grabbed their comment after a google search. But if you can think of any time Taylor has referencd a food, especially if it is one that can be stored for a long time safely, I'd like to know.
Why, you ask? I want to set up something, and maybe it's stupid and no one but me will participate. But this fandom has so much power and can often do so many cruel things. I want to start something donating to my local community pantry and fridge, which I already do, but make it Taylor Swift themed. Maybe print something or write something tied around each box donated, I don't know. I did take off the generic words like 'dinner' or 'lunch' because I'm looking to get more specific here. If I can get even one or two people who weren't already donating to do it, it was worth it.

  1. Pumpkin - The Best Day
  2. Pastry - Speak Now
  3. Coffee - State of Grace, This Love
  4. Salt - Bad Blood
  5. Rice - INTHAF
  6. High tea - London Boy
  7. Popcorn - I Forgot That You Existed
