Just over two years ago, I finally got a raise to $15/hr from the $11 I was making. My husband at the time was working at a grocery store making $12. That bump to $15 was enough to immediately cash in our savings and move out of my Father in Law's house into our own place in 2021.
Our only big purchases since have been a ~$3,000 vacation (pre paid and all inclusive and only an hour from home.) and we traded in our early-oughts Mercedes for a mid-10s Camry and pay about $300/month for that.
Here we are just two years later. Same apartment. I make ~$18/hr + commission with plenty of overtime. He makes $20/hr. We are both solidly set into skilled careers with large, extremely stable companies in industries where we aren't necessarily threatened by AI. We're in the same apartment, but paying rent has never gotten any easier. Everything gets more expensive. With insurance we still can't really get healthcare. Our grocery bill just keeps rising. Energy drinks have become a splurge purchase. We used to buy a flat of them every two weeks.
We've gone from $47k pre-tax to $86k pre-tax in two years and life just keeps getting harder.
Even basically doubling our income has done nothing to improve our lives or our futures. We are no closer to getting a bigger apartment (FORGET BUYING A HOUSE) and starting a family. All the financial advice I desperately read tells me to invest but when I've got $60/week leftover after setting aside money for rent/electric/internet/pet care/gas I'd much rather spend that $60 on like, one nice dinner or something to ease the monotony of the week.
Something has to give. I feel like I'm losing my mind. I have cut corners everywhere I can. We buy our meat in bulk. We no longer eat breakfast or even keep snacks in the house. Our clothes come from thrifting/gifts/buy nothing groups. I haven't been to a concert in years. The furthest we've gone from home is two hours to see my family. I cut both of our hair. We just had to budget for two weeks to spend $190 on some costume pieces for our trip. I don't know what to do anymore.
On the outside our lives look extremely luxurious because we both work in luxury industries, and it's exhausting to have our friends and family assume we're okay.
I want a family. I want a savings account that doesn't get drained for gas regularly. I want to invest and grow my wealth and have something to leave behind. Something has to give. I'm so tired of eating pasta and rice.
ETA: I did not post this to be told there must be some secret I'm hiding or just to be told I'm terrible at budgeting. If you don't believe me that's your business but you're missing the point of the post. Costs are rising too fast for the American worker to improve their lives in any meaningful way.

Nahobino

The protagonist was just a regular high-school student until one day, he entered the Takanawa Tunnel as it suddenly collapsed on him. After regaining consciousness, he found himself in a desert world known as Da'at, the realm that demons reside in. In order to save himself from the demons attacking him, he fuses with a demon known as Aogami to become a Nahobino, an ascended godlike being. He decides to work with Bethel and Abdiel to fend of demons and protect the world, until he finds out that the Tokyo he was living in was a false reality. In truth, Tokyo was destroyed 18 years ago in a war between the forces of God and Lucifer. God then copied Tokyo back into existence, this miracle was known as the Shekinah Glory. After God was killed by Lucifer, this miracle was weakening, and parts of Tokyo were vanishing from existence. The protagonist and Aogami decide that the only way to restore the world is to assume the throne of creation and reshape the world.
A Nahobino is a god, the original form of a demon. Long ago, the Creator sealed the Knowledge of all gods in the Garden of Eden, reducing them to mere demons. One day, a serpent tempted humanity to eat the forbidden Fruit of Knowledge. Consuming the fruit gave them Knowledge, which entered their souls and was passed down for generations. If a demon or god locates a human with their corresponding Knowledge, they can fuse with their soul and become a Nahobino.
Nahobino has the power to summon and control over 200 different demons. Demons are the incarnations of ideas born from the collective unconscious. They are shaped by the myths, beliefs and cognition of mankind and possess magical powers. The source of their power is Magatsuhi, a spiritual power known as Magnetite in other games. A demon's attacks are able to cause people or other demons to bleed out Magatsuhi and if all their Magatsuhi is lost, they will vanish without a trace. • Blocks a surprise attack from Fionn mac Cumhaill. Nahobino can also use his blades on both arms
• Stabs a girl, causing her to disappear as her Magatsuhi bleeds out

• Sent flying by Lahmu's tendril
  • Lahmu could kill multiple Angels with a swipe

Throne of Creation

• Gains power from the Throne of Creation and attempts to use it to recreate the world and wipe out all traces of gods and demons from existence, and frees the new world from the Mandala System by killing Matter Lucifer and using the Knowledge he consumed
  • Aogami is also erased when he does this
• If he sides with Nuwa in the Chaos ending, he uses this power to destroy the throne
• If he sides with Abdiel, he uses this power to create a world that preserves God's order, and if he sides with the prime minister of Japan, he creates a world governed by many different gods

Aogami

Aogami is a Proto-Fiend who was made by his brother Tsukuyomi. His true identity is Susano-o, one of the Amatsukami, gods born from Izanami.

• Detects the vital signs of people in a city, and pinpoints their location
• Detects 3 incredible sources of energy
• Was created to inherit the full powers of the Amatsukami

I dreamt I was practicing getting my dog to come inside in case there were ever any downed electrical lines.
I was standing at my backdoor waving pieces of bacon at my dog and calling her name. She was ignoring the bacon and me. She dug a hole under the fence and ran around to the front of the house.
I ran out front and could see her through some trees about four houses down where she had apparently heard a young child choking and ran over there to perform the heimlich maneuver.
The parents were really grateful and in awe that she could do that.

Not a duel/fight per se, but according to GRRM's thoughts on the show, we could potentially see a showdown between them in the books:

Speaking of which: Martin leaves a little note for the producers when writing about Ramsay’s flesh-eating hounds, whom we see hunting down a girl for sport.

With the abandonment of the 5 year gap and the progression Jaime shows in the post I linked below, I think its quite feasible that Jaime has to use his left hand at some point (duel with Brienne, Lancel, Boros, etc.), my favorite potential foreshadowing of this, is this little throwaway line about his squire:

Areo Hotah has already dispatched a POV character (Arys Oakheart) and the Camera that Rides is now headed to track down Dark Star with Obara Sand.

One of the more divisive theories in the fanbase is that of Sandor Clegane fighting his brother Gregor. While E+L have stated that they don't believe Cleganebowl will happen (although they have also said they won't change their stance on stuff publicly if they get new information):

No, the Cleganebowl theory -- specifically, the version that has the gravedigger formerly known as the Hound fighting a trial by combat against the necromantic experiment formerly known as Ser Gregor Clegane -- is not really going anywhere (though the two may well meet under other circumstances).

I tend to agree as I think that Sandor Clegane's plotline stays in the Riverlands (LSH and the BwB are hot on his trail and know he was the last one to see Arya alive).
That said we get it on the show (take that fwiw, as they were in deep with the fan service at that point) as well as get several quotes that could seemingly foreshadow a fight between them.

Bloodraven & Bittersteel
Bloodraven and Bittersteel are known to have fought two duels::

• The First Blackfyre Rebellion (196AC)
• The Third Blackfyre Rebellion (219AC)

While the details of their first duel are pretty well known, the information about their second duel is very scarce (we will likely get more info in a future D&E or Fire & Blood II). It can also be argued that we could end up with a third "duel" (war by proxy) between the two.

Dark Sister & Blackfyre
While neither Blackfyre/Dark Sister have been mentioned in the main series, they have met in duels on a couple occasions. While it is confirmed that Bloodraven took Dark Sister to the Wall with him, we haven't seen it since. Blackfyre was last seen with Bittersteel.
I think its quite likely that Illyrio acquired Blackfyre at some point and that it was a treasure that House Blackfyre maintained as some semblance of legitimacy.

Not really sure who (it could be anyone from Euron and whatever he is summoning/dragon to another character on dragonback.
That said we are to expect a Dance of the Dragons II in the series, and imo its not a real "dance" unless both sides have dragons.
