Dnd 5e invisible stalker

Hello there! I am running a game for newcomers and intermediate players so they can get to know the game we all love. We will play every Friday evening at 7 PM CST. (UTC-6). We use DndBeyond for sheets, roll20 for maps, and discord for voice. I am a fairly experienced DM and have been playing 5e since it released and have been DMing for the past few years. I've already run a few modules and some short homebrews and would say that my style leans more into narrative and roleplay with a smattering of combats.
The overall tone will be serious but with moments of goofiness and fun thrown in for good measure. Fun is typically the name of the game here so whatever facilitates that is fine with me as long as it's not anything weird. Since this group will mainly be newish players, I'd like to keep character creation to official sources for now. We will be doing one of the modules and possibly spinning things off from there if people are still having fun after it.

The group I’m in has already started a home brew good campaign and we are all at level 4 currently. We are early enough in the campaign story that having someone else jump in isn’t an issue. Unfortunately, one of our players is currently unable to make it every Sunday due to personal reasons.
We really need another person to be able to play. We currently have a orc fighter, gnome wizard, halfling bard, and a human cleric (the person who plays the cleric is the one who is unable to make it most Sunday’s.)
We play around 2 p.m. every Sunday in the Arboretum area. We prefer someone who is in their thirties or older since our group is an older group. Please send me a message if you’re interested.

I'm kinda new to osr games, I have played dnd 3.5e for the better part o f 5 years and 5e for a couple more and I wanted to try something else. Me and my group would like to try out ose advanced and I was thinking about getting the hardback books (referee + players advanced tomes) but I can't seem to find any information about a reprint.
If anybody has some info on this topic I'm all ears and thank you in advance :D

TRPGs have always sounded like a blast, yet I've never had anyone to play with who's experienced enough to GM.
The two sessions I tried to join, one was mostly a comedy fest with very little in-character talking and often was interrupted for real life chit-chat (so the story was at a drag) and the stats confused me - the second one was notably better, but we never got far because it was finals week and... well, we only had maybe 2 real sessions before we had to call it.
Then I tried DnD 5e with a friend online. Attempting to play DnD 5e was very overwhelming for me and my friend, with all the stats and dice and rules. I'm sure it didn't help that we each had more than one character, or that it was only 2 of us so we took turns DMing.
Still, if there was a simpler game that even a know-nothing beginner could conceivably GM, I would REALLY like to know. Me and a few friends want to try and none of us have much TRPG knowledge.
Preferably one with a more interesting setting than the cookie-cutter "medieval European fantasy", but any simpler TRPG would be great.

Hiya, I've always really wanted to play an unarmed wizard of some sorts, the idea of the spellcaster just doming you in the face is really appealing to me. Now, I am a dumbass so I have no idea how to actually build a character like this, or if it's even really possible, so I decided to ask you all what the most optimal way to do so is. (I'm open to the idea of multiclassing but the class should preferably be lower level or equal to the wizard level)

I am very happy to see these results after 2 days of trying to use chatgpt website version as a DM for campaigns as there was so many problems with it forgetting rules, forgetting the narrative which broke the immersion and overall losing its mind mid gameplay and most of all! Totally forgetting the concept of combat! ( As it wanted to stay SFW ) Today I created discord chatgpt bot using the chatgpt API and autocode to implement fully functional discordgpt bot to my private channel and the results were massive 100x better than the chatgpt website version! First of all I gave the API access to 1 hour memory + 20 messages prior ( Which can also be increased! but will add up the cost of using the API ) Secondly, I added system prompts for the API like for example " Everytime you act as an DM, search the internet for DnD 5E rules! "
It's very nice as I haven't ever before done a "real" dnd campaign and the GPT api could provide me with so much fun! :D It could be improved with vector database to allow it to have truly long term memory, but that is still too advanced for me! But for now it was great as it remembered the concept and the quest for the whole time I was adventuring finding a stolen gemstone for an merchant that got stolen by this rival merchant!

Can any table top players give me a hint on how pathfinder 2e games are organized at dragoncon? I've played adventures league for dnd 5e at dragoncon but several months ago I switched to pathfinder 2e. I've been gm online but I've been dying to play. I'm gonna assume there is non campaign for pf2e but is there any campaign or an adventure leauge equivalent?

The greatest enemy of TTRPG players strikes again, Scheduling issues. So I'm looking for some players for my casual on the rules type DnD game. For the most part Rules are followed but I don't make it too mechanics heavy. Combat is relatively easy unless the dice gods aren't on your side but that's life sometimes. The world is a large floating continent called Zephyr above a ruined world covered in deep purple fog. The party is currently investigating the disappearance of a group of inventor kobolds in an underground area known as Eastridge which has been corrupted by some unknown force.

I’m a very out of practice dm that wanted to starting dming again. I have a homebrew world and am looking for 18+ players and maybe a forever dm looking to be a player to help give me tips so i can improve as a dm.
The setting is very homebrew and a bit too long to explain on here and I’m not even sure where to start tbh. If there were questions, I could answer them but aside from that I dont wanna spoil too much and dont know how to make sure that doesn’t happen if i just start typing,

By the book, clerics are always lawful at high levels. The only exception is for evil clerics, who must always cast the reversed versions of spells, and cannot affect undead at all. You're either a real cleric, or you're a heretic, an anti-cleric, with significantly reduced powers.
Magic users have no alignment restrictions. But their spell list has some odd ducks in it. Why can't wizards make continual light bright enough to inflict combat penalties on goblins like Clerics can? If clerics have Divination (get questions answered correctly, no risk of insanity), what good is Contact Higher Plane? If clerics have raise dead, what good is reincarnate (bring a character back to life as a random humanoid species of random class and levels)?
And then there's the restriction that you cannot multiclass as a cleric and a magic user. Somehow the two are antithetical.
Which makes me think: what if magic users are tapping into the powers of chaos for their magic?
Contact Higher Plane makes a lot more sense if you can't use it to contact the powers of law, but only the powers of Chaos. Need to ask something that the powers of Law care about? use divination. Need to ask something that only the powers of Chaos would know? You've got to risk insanity and call up somebody like Cthulhu or Yog-Sothoth.
The random, uncontrollable nature of some magic user spells makes a lot more sense if the wizard is trying to control and channel raw Chaos to their own ends. Magical research is all about figuring out ways to contain and direct magic that left unchecked will just destroy randomly. Follow the ritual exactly and you've wrested something useful and productive from random, destructive Chaos. Screw up, and that fireball is going to detonate off target, or that elemental/invisible stalker is going to have your guts for lunch.
Want to raise someone from the dead who had been on Team Chaos? Or bring back someone for reasons that Team Law don't approve of? Sorry, not allowed. Fortunately there's reincarnation.
Clerics (as opposed to heretical anti-clerics) are part of Team Law. They get their magic in return for furthering the ends of the Lords of Order. Magic users use their knowledge to take raw seething chaos and direct it to their own ends. Sometimes they're seduced by the dark side and join Team Chaos, but most often they're Neutral, not on any team except that of finding new and better ways to siphon off and control this seething, random magic of destruction for non-random ends.

Played DND 5e for a long time, and started getting into Call of Cthulhu. I love the mystery and investigative aspects of Call of Cthulhu, but I love the setting of WFRP. My group would also rather play in a fantasy setting, but they like CoC also. Have people managed to run CoC style games/ use reskinned CoC scenarios in WFRP? I just got the core rulebook, and I'm enjoying the different flavours of crunch

My friend and I wanted to expand upon the dungeon coach's weapon passives and actives and create our own changes to spells to make them a little more dynamic. I am a 5e DM in need of serious help with a problematic player character. Dungeons and dragons is a wonderful hobby and even a way of life. Its more than nerds its a community anyways here's my problem:
My (9/10) players consist of my friends J (5/10), S (7/10), B (8/10) and H (male). They play a druid, fighter, bard, and 3.5e duskblade, respectively. Their characters' names are F, N, S, and K, respectively. And they all really like meta-humor, to the point where it clashes with my vision and tone for the adventure and ends up causing some serious issues.
I set them in a town that has frequently been raided by a marauding band of gnolls, and ive made it very clear to them in their interactions with numerous npcs that the gnolls were last seen making camp in a nearby dungeon, and that a large sum of riches will be rewarded to anyone who removes this looming scourge from the township's periphery. My players discuss pursuing the obvious intended quest, but then S decides she has a funnier idea.
So S has N procure dice from gamblers in the town, in addition to paper and quills, and the PCs hunker down in the tavern to undertake the overplayed trope of, you guessed it, playing DnD within DnD.
The dungeon master, N, begins their campaign in a castle. F plays a rogue, S plays a barbarian, and K plays a wizard. Their characters' names are G, V, and T respectively. The plot is that there are monsters in the castle and thats it. And instantly the three start taking everything incredibly seriously, slaying goblins and hanging on every word of N's absent storyline. It makes sense for F, but S and K have pretty good int scores so they really shouldn't be invested in that kind of drivel.
I am obviously infuriated. I send one gnoll, let's call him C, into the tavern to break up their bullshit and get them invested in the real plot, threatening to drink their blood and shit on their skeletons in my most gravelly register. The goal is to piss them off enough to get them to head to my dungeon instead. But the party's party needs a healer, so S casts charm person and C fails the save, so fine, guess he's their pal now. C plays a cleric named Z.
So I'm their heal monkey while the goblin castle campaign plays out. An emmisary of the goblins threatens to drink our blood, real original, so i try to befriend him, but i roll a nat 1 for C for Z and it doesn't go anywhere. And then, at my lowest point, i realize what i have to do to get back at these players. Between encounters, Z empties out the castle study of papers, quills, and dice, and convinces the rest of the group to start a DnD adventure in the courtyard.
"My adventure will be about a town under attack by gnolls" says Z.
"Sounds mid, i'll DM." says T.
I flip H off but N's mad her campaign's about to be derailed, so I concede. G plays a ranger named B, V plays a warlock named U, and Z plays a paladin named F. T being a wizard wants us at epic level, and puts us in a cavern full of really obtuse puzzles and traps.
B and F start checking for exits while U the warlock just sits around meditating for a while, V refusing to roll anything for some reason. Eventually B asks him, "Hey, you want to help or something?"
And U says "We are deep enough now."
Everybody's confused, F is like "What are you talking about?"
And U keeps talking with his eyes closed. "We are deep enough at last, the third circle. The pit of sand wells up with water. In these deepest recesses I have found the power to attain freedom, to ascend."
And then U eldritch blasts B and F, wins the fight, just wiping the party for no reason. And then suddenly he's not there in the cavern any more, he's standing next to T in the castle courtyard. And U kills T and G and V and Z, and then he ascends again and kills F and N and S and K and C in the tavern, and then he ascends again and kills J and S and B and H. He spares me as a witness to his power before breaking my window and flying out into the night. So theres the players all dead in my living room, and the gnoll plot completely unresolved.
I honestly don't know what to do about this warlock. Does anyone have experience dealing with a problematic player character like this?

I'm playing DnD 5e more in depth for the very first time and I wanted to try a Battle Master Fighter. During a fight, I'm using a +2 Greatsword for 2D6+5. Max damage being 17, non-critical. If I use my two attacks, the maximum becomes 34. Meanwhile, I'm being left in the dust damage wise, with the Sorcerer dealing 8D6 with a Lightning Bolt. Did I just, build my Fighter wrong? Am I missing something? How do I improve my Fighter?

Newbie here. I would like to participate/learn how to play Dungeons & Dragons - any edition, IRL preferred. I live just north of Baltimore.

Hello there! i know this is casting a bit of a wide net but im loosing my mind, it feels so hard to get a game on saturday night that meets weekly and isnt run by teenagers. I am looking for a game with any of the systems i listed, please be 21 or older and open to lgbt+ people, have a weekly game, and primarily fantasy setting (am open to lancer or magitek kinda settings) I am open to some interesting twists but no gimmicks that like completely change the rules of whatever system we would use. I am 30 years old, nb (any/all pronouns) and while i have 15 years of experience most of my experience is with 5e, i am dying to try out systems i havent gotten to play that much, pathfinder, becmi/ose, shadowdark, lancer, or 4th or 3.5 dnd. if you are a dm/gm that is running a game that needs a player and you meet on satudays at around 630pm cst lmk! if you arent playing a system that i listed hmu either in a reply, a dm or on my discord at Agni-kai#4222! anyways im willing to hear out almost anything! voice call sessions only please! i dont do video or pbp, i use discord. and i know how to play on foundry and roll20! have a great day!

So I've played DnD (starting way back in ADnD) and it's various offspring for a lot of years, including PF 1e and 2e. I say this to say that I'm fairly familiar with DnD and PF2e; I'm trying to avoid wasting time on the "Play The Game As It Is Intended" conversations that have cropped up around 5e players wandering in and playing PF2e for the first time and immediately wanting to house rule things they haven't seen before, things that often are pillars of what make the system great. I've played PF2e as it is intended a lot. I like it a lot. I get where the forum is coming from when they suggest people play the system as intended starting out. I'd like to tweak it a bit to serve my purposes.
One of my favorite settings that I'm planning on breaking out for my PF2e group is Midnight, the old FFG setting where the Dark Lord of the setting (a rough Sauron equivalent) effectively controls the world. It's a pretty grim setting, and I don't think PF2e's standard heroic fantasy is quite the flavor I'm looking for. However, I also don't want to use something else like Shadow of the Demon Lord or Genesys for a variety of reasons. I'm curious if there's a version of DnD 5e's hardcore mode where the adventuring day, rather than being oriented along 1 hour and 24 hour rests, is reoriented along 1 day and 1 week rests. I'm wanting some equivalent of DnD 5e's hardcore mode to better fit Midnight's flavor. Discouraging combat, making combat more costly, making combat more frightening, and slowing down the tempo of violence in the game is my primary goal.
I glanced through the GMG and didn't spot any variant rules to that effect. I'm curious if there's any official variant rules or community balance pass similar to hardcore mode or if I'm going to have to sit down and do it myself? I don't imagine it would be too hard, I just want to avoid doing the work if it has already been done for me.
