For those of you that follow me and/or have read my previous posts, you know that I sell evil boy stuff at flea markets. (CCG games I.E. Pokemon, Magic the Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh) I also sell comics and some action figures.
This incident happened about 2005 at Marshall's Creek flea market in Pennsylvania.
Mommy and son (about 10) were walking by my booth and the kid stopped. He saw a box of single cards and started to look.
Mommy told the kid to put that down because they didn't have time for him to look.
Obviously this kid had enough and he said to her, "We always seem to have time for you to look at everything, but when I want to look, it's we don't have time."
I liked this kid instantly, but she gave him the "you'll pay for that glare."
He asked how much the cards were and I told him that they were $.25 each.
He's going thru them and stops and asks me if a certain card was a quarter.
I looked at it and went "Sh*t" It was a rookie A-Rod card and this was before it was known about the steroids.
She looked at it and said, I wouldn't sell that for that price.
What had happened was that when I left my house to do the market that weekend, I grabbed it and put it in my singles tray. I meant to take it out and put it in my showcase.
Now I know that there are people reading this that won't believe that I sold it but I did.
I told her, that it was my mistake and I always try to honor my word to kids. Adults usually understand that it was a mistake.
She then told the boy to put it back, they'll walk around and think about it and come back later.
Remember, we are talking about a quarter.
I said to her. "Ma-am, I am doing this to honor my word to your son. This is a one time offer. If you walk away or say no this card is being put in a snap-tight card holder, I am putting a $50.00 price tag on it and it's going into this showcase."
She tells the kid to put it back as she's not going to be pressured.
Remember it's a frigging quarter.
The kid gets upset and starts to argue.
The hell spawn then states "Talking back?? Now you aren't getting anything."
Well now the kid loses it. And mommy is standing there with her arms folded and is smiling like she won the seventh game of the world series.
Well what she (and I) didn't know was that the father was approaching and was seeing the results of her actions.
He asked what was going on and she told him that she was punishing the kid for mouthing off. He then starts lecturing the boy that he shouldn't do that blah...blah...blah.
I couldn't allow this poor kid to be punished for her actions so I spoke up. I said, "Sir, you really should know what happened. "
Mommy yells at me to "Mind my god damn business."
Me:"It is my god damn business. You caused this scene at my standand drove away customers. (a bit of a white lie but wtf.)
And then she screws up and states that he didn't need to know what happened.
Father says that maybe he does.
The father takes the kid out the door to the parking lot and I could see him crouch down and put his hand on the boy's shoulder. Meanwhile mommy is screaming at me. I removed the card box from the table and put it by me because I was afraid she would rip it up. (yes this type of stuff has happened)
A few minutes later they both come back and the father asks me what happened. I told him.
He looks at her and tells her that both of our stories match. So unless the kid snuck away and we planned this, she caused it. He then asked her why.
Her answer?? She didn't want him to have it. He asked why not. Her response?? She didn't need a reason.
The father reached into his pocket for change and I told him that I wasn't going to sell it for that price now. But I would if Mommy Dearest paid. (yes I was twisting the knife in) She yelled that there was no f*cking way she was giving me anything.
Father asked me "How much?" I guess he was expecting the book price. I said $.26 cents, but if you don't have a penny you can owe it to me.
I start to put the card in a top-loader card holder and this insane creature actually tried to jump over my table to get the card. She was screaming that she said no and how dare I sell it to him. A crowd is gathering and my neighbor told curious onlookers what happened. Most of them were laughing at her for being a moron.
So I handed it to the father and she's screaming that she's going to rip it up the first chance she gets. Father tells her that she won't because it's being put in the safe at his office.
I hope this woman got the therapy she needs. And I can only imagine what she would've done if it was 50 cents.

Hello,I'm a computer science undergraduate, and so I decided to make a LinkedIn account.I did so and linked it to my twitter. Now, I was just setting up my profile an hour or so ago and suddenly, while writing my summary, I get signed out of all my devices.
I tried signing back in, LinkedIn asked me to 'Verify' my Identity and that my account is restricted. I picked my country from the options, Lebanon, and the only option is a passport.
But I do not have a passport. I never needed one nor is it required to have one to live in the country. Anyways, I select the only option, despite my sadness, and provide a clear picture of my only GOVERNMENT-ISSUED identification paper, called (Translated to english) Individual Registration Record.
It is my ONLY ID and it has been the only legal paper I ever required and needed. From school, to high school, to now university and to everwhere else.
Back to the point, I receive an emal near-instantly from LinkedIn stating the papers I provided are 'Not accepted'.
These are the only LEGAL papers that verify my existence and me being a citizen of my country. What do you even mean by 'not accepted'
I really got angry, feeling like I was shot down before I even got a chance to even start or try to start an account to help increase my job-landing chances after graduation next year by even a little. It felt... really ugly.

Please, can someone even tell me what should I do? How am I supposed to react... I really want my account back, I haven't even finished setting up my profile... I didn't even get the chance to post about my first web project...

As a note: I had LinkedIn open on both mobile and Desktop Browser as I found adding a phone through the latter easier and I needed my phone to confirm the 2FA when logging in through my browser. I was updating most my stuff on the browser, but I also setup some stuff from the phone.

So this isn't really a dramatic situation or anything. It's just something that I, a civilian, experienced while working with the military.
I (31M) am a post-doc at the NIH. Last November, I was working on a project in collaboration with the US Army. I quickly became close with my colleague, an Army officer named Terrence, or Terry (41M). Terry is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, so just out of respect, while we were working together, I used to always call him by "lieutenant colonel". So it was always "lieutenant colonel" this, and "lieutenant colonel" that! Lol. However, Terry is a very laid-back kind of guy, and he would always smile and say "you can just call me by my first name"; while we were all professional at work, our team did get along well with each other.
One day while we were working together, I called out to Terrence and addressed him by his rank as I always did. He didn't get angry, but he told me in a kind-of annoyed tone "come on now, I've told you before and I'm not going to say it again. You can just call me Terry. I prefer it that way". So I said okay, and from then on I simply started referring to him by his first name.
Terry and I are still friends, and my research pursuits will mean that I will be collaborating with the military again in the future. It's interesting to navigate the military world, as a civilian, and I'd like to show them the respect that they've earned and be more aware about military etiquette.
Also, it may be relevant, but I am indeed autistic. Stuff like this doesn't come naturally to me.

Hi All,
To keep this as short as possible, I’ve been together with my partner for 5 years. Within the first 5 months of us initially dating, I was told by her family that she has schizophrenia after a mental health episode. Since that initial diagnosis, I learned a lot about the triggers, treatment and being involved with her medical appointments to best support my partner. I was positively supportive knowing the positive prognosis provided by my partners psychiatrist. There were no warning signs ever since this event, other than a timeline for when she can come off medication.
We have travelled overseas, interstate, lived together and planned our future keeping in mind of our other goals and ambitions. My partner is my best friend and by far has changed and enhanced my life to the man I always wanted to become. We are fully aware of committing to marriage and a family life with each other.
In September 2022, my partner was burnt out from a heavy work and life schedule. As I have witnessed people go through psychosis before, I knew this was a warning sign. To cut it to the chase, and keeping the people involved very minimal for reputational reasons, my partner went missing for 3 days. I was awake the whole time, documenting and keeping a low profile to find her with her parents. Whilst working with the police with the evidence I had gathered with her parents, we were able to find her in the middle of the night with the police officer and her parents advising to restrain her, and obviously not to hurt.
It did break my heart to see her in the state she was in, saying things such wanting to break up with myself. The police officers at the time did not obtain communication from the station I was liaising information with, making it slightly more difficult and more public attention with some citizens believing I was attempting to assault my partner despite being in front of her parents. Her parents did comfort myself, and I had kept the people including her closest friends informed.
My partner was in a psychiatric ward in hospital for approximately 3 ½ Weeks, with the hospital allowing no visitors during this time. When my partner was discharged, agreeing that being with her parents for a short time during the recovery period was the best way to handle our jobs and for her to receive attention and treatment.
Unfortunately, with her parents agreeing, she was let out far too early and was on the spectrum such as wanting to drink and party. My partner does not drink nor goes out to parties, clubs, raves, or events however I have always been open for her to do what she wants to do. The day after my partner was discharged, she had bricked her phone making herself non-contactable with no friends or people knowing where she was.
Following her parents and the advise from the CATT (Crisis Assessment & Treatment Team), they were on the search for herself again after unable to locate herself. During this time, she did advise one friend of hers of going to an event and did not tell anyone else of her actions or motives. With much concern, and herself making contact with myself she was aware of what happened, and her parents had dropped the concern with the CATT team.
On my end on this same night, she had advised a few of her friends with one advising what she was saying and claimed I abused and controlled her. Knowing straight away that this was false, struggling to think of an example, we later broke up with a nonsense break-up whereas I was still focused due to our shared responsibilities. Her parents advised that with time and medication, that hopefully she would be able to think more “clearly”, and with her parents advising myself that she was physically hitting them during this time.
After hearing about the claims, unfortunately she had gone public on social media posting the claims and sharing videos of our text messages with no evidence of her claims. Being afraid for my career, and her long-term friends starting to question if I was genuine – I was blocked by her friends, and communication had stopped. A few people did show me the misinformation posts spread about myself that led into a 2-month window. I was contacted by the CATT team after the 2-month window being advised that she had relapsed, so I supplied any information I was given to give herself the best support. I did not post on social media on any forms about my private life or relationship, outside two group chats on a high-level advising about the bizarre content that was posted outside the slander.
I was advised by the CATT team and my psychologist to keep the police aware of the misinformation due to cancel culture, with evidenced supplied as I was cut from all communication from her family and friends. No formal report was filed however I was advised to have all communication blocked for my own safety. During this time, I was experiencing worry for the future by having to re-evaluate life, I had significant family and friend issues, a few unfortunate deaths and my mental state had burnt out completely. I did not have any time off from work during this whole period.
After New Years, my partner had reached out to my parents and later to myself. I was startled at first and worried, however she was talking completely normal and realised of her mistakes, actions, and her personal journey. I was treading lightly out of fear and being cut out of communication, until the conversation mentioned that she was not on medication, she rushed a decision and was hallucinating believing that I was “evil” along with her parents. What had sold myself was that I still loved my partner, and she loved myself however with her protective friends and the slander posted, they had advised her not to contact myself.
Fast forward to the present day and she was correct, with me being involved in her new program with a new team including additional psychological assistance. I was identified to be a carer, with no issues and a definitive timeline of events. The re-diagnosis was stress-induced psychosis, with herself addressing issues. We agreed that we will be back together, however I was still caught in the rift of my issues with family, friends, grief, and my career and other income streams having significant issues.
I was living a double life for a few months. I had told my family of what happened and what I want out of life. I just wanted to have everything back to “normal” again. I did not realise of how mentally unprepared I was, keeping in mind that multiple factors did contribute to burning out. My family was very concerned at the time but realised later that I was doing what made myself happy.
As we’ve picked up our plans where we had last left off, my partner at times does not remember the damage caused by herself with my family trying to protect myself. I’m heading to Europe in a week for a holiday with friends as an escape/break from reality, with us moving back in together upon returning.
Although the answer is obvious, I am struggling to return to my “normal” self, as I’m combating both her friends and my family being concerned about myself from the past slander. I am recovered from the event however there was a lot of decisions and actions that was said, with her friends claiming that I have too many “red flags”. These “red flags” have not been identified, characterised, associated with an example or a trait for me to identify and improve upon myself and our long-term relationship.
With a lack of support from her closest friends, choosing to hide away from us, and her younger sister attempting to ruin our relationship with more slander. I am at a point where I do not know how to make healthy actions, whilst I find comfort in ignoring that particular time period on a mental level. I am struggling between chasing my own happiness, whilst on pilot mode and meeting my financial responsibilities being the bare minimum. I have never personally experienced burnout before with such self-diagnosed symptoms including:
• Headaches, unable to eat and physically vomiting water.
• Self-imposed social limitations and not interacting with friends due to no longer feeling aligned with certain values and social mantras.
• Mental factors such as decreased productivity in all aspects including putting my PhD studies and start-up business on hold. I no longer have the same level of passion for my main workplace, with internal politics affected my growth opportunity and income. I do have mortgages to pay off, causing financial stress.
• Body stress factors such as experiencing a lower auto-immune system, including having COVID for the first time, and the flu and tearing my forearm putting myself out of physical exercise for 3 months.
I have actively been speaking to my psychologist, and knowing the feeling of depression from past experiences, we had identified that this is not depression with no medicine to be prescribed to myself. As I know this is a messy situation and with my partner also not knowing why I am taking so long to adjust, I am at a point where I am self-aware of my issues and problems and also traumatised from the experience however I need to move on with my life and make positive life amendments.
As this is my first burnout, does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle my mental health but also be attentive to my partners mental health and to move forward with life?

• My partner and I have been together for over 5 years, I was aware and told she has/had schizophrenia.

• My partner and I lived together, travelled internationally and domestically. We were both happy with no signs of concern from her family or mine.
• In September 2022, my partner experienced burnout and psychosis for three days. She was found safely and with a minimal group of people who knew details.
• My partner was admitted in a psychiatric ward in the hospital for 3 ½ weeks with zero outside contact, and when she was discharged. She stayed with her parents after being discharged with her mum to look after her.
• My partner went missing the day after being discharged with the hospital and her family asking myself to find her. My partner had bricked her phone and was uncontactable and developed an obsession to party and drink, being opposite to her personality.
• My partner after coming back to her parents advised a few of her friends, with some approaching myself with herself claiming that I “abused and controlled” her.
• Following the advice of her parents, we wanted to give her time to re-adjust however we broke up with no logical reasoning.
• As we had finances shared, I had to be civil and logical with herself whereas she was partying away. She posted slandedefamation on social media publicly regarding the claims with no evidence and a lot of concerned family members and friends approaching myself. She had also physically assaulted her parents during this time.
• My partners closest friends believed the defamation/slander and wanted to protect herself, whereas I was advised to report everything to the police for safety reasons. I understand her family and friends concerns however I was cut from communication.
• My partner had relapsed 2 months later, with the same CATT team contacting me to provide information, in which I did to provide her the best treatment. During this time, her father and I remained in contact out of mutual concern.
• I was experiencing worry for the future by having to re-evaluate life, I had significant family and friend issues, a few unfortunate deaths and my mental state had burnt out completely. I did not have any time off from work during this whole period.
• After New Years, my partner contacted my parents to get in contact with myself. She was not on medication nor has schizophrenia. She admitted that rushed she rushed a decision and was hallucinating believing that I was “evil” along with her parents. What had sold myself was that I still loved my partner, and she loved myself. I want things to return to “normal”.
• My partners new diagnosis is stressed-induced psychosis, in which was more evident with underlining unaddressed childhood traumas she had to face. We agreed to be back together, wanting to ignore this experience as it was more of a self-discovery journey.
• I am happy deep down. I am struggling between chasing my own happiness, whilst on pilot mode and meeting my responsibilities being the bare minimum during this first experience of burnout in all aspects in life. Notably my family experiencing issues, friend issues and support, career issues through internal politics causing financial stress, and my body is physically reacting to the stress.
• I am unable to get out of this pattern for months, and I have been having professional support. I will be in Europe in a week for a holiday.
As this is my first burnout, does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle my mental health but also be attentive to my partners mental health and to move forward with life?

This one was a hard to choose. All of you were great with your comments about Yoshiwara in Flames and reading your comments was a pure joy to me. So this time there won’t be just one victor. Nor three or four victors.

First victor is u/TakenRedditName. I liked his analysis which was a good read.

The main message of the arc, being able to stand noble and tall is pure Gintama. Hinowa and Tsukuyo being able to stand tall is what inspires the rest of Yoshiwara. The element also of the shining sun of tomorrow will always come is also one that is true to Gintama and Gintoki as a character. The family aspect is also good. Like how Gintoki points it out, Seita and Hinowa are family despite having no blood connection nor having spent much time together in contrast to Kamui’s lack of love to his own blood family. Hinowa and Seita are just really sweet, I really like this little moment. Seeing Seita carry Hinowa.

Also liked some facts he pointed out:

It is funny in retrospect how this lines up with Kagura’s chunni backstory for her Monkey Hunter character back in that unassuming episode. Like her manly game avatar, when her back is against the wall. Kagura’s dark second personality comes out and she becomes a hard-nosed berserker and her mortal enemy is her older brother.

And most importantly this is another reason he won the comment of the week:

Originally, I was going to write how Hozen’s before-death moment doesn’t quite land despite liking when it happened with Ito, but watching and thinking about it, I’ve come to appreciate it. Now, the flashback is just him abusing a little girl who only shows and wished him kindness, but his talk with Kamui, I think presents something interesting. Hozen is much more morally black than Ito so going a similar route of final moment turnaround isn’t going to work, but Hozen is more like looking back at where he ended up. The thing about being unable to show love, always chasing yet never being able to embrace what he is after since he only knows violence, I think it speaks true to the Yato experience. Hozen has the element of building a big twisted form of a house, a paradise to call his home though one built with force and tyranny which is sorta tied to Umibozu, Kagura and Kamui. Umibozu wanted to have a home and family, but didn’t know how and ended up keeping his distance. Kagura wants to find a place away from the violent nature of the Yato while Kamui has abandoned it all for the sole purpose of living on the violent battlefield.

Now I mentioned that the comment of the week has another victor. And it’s u/KendotsX for pointing an interesting piece about Abuto which slipped past me when I was rewatching Yoshiwara in Flames.

He's far from the limelight of this arc, he's strong and experienced, but not the fearsome King of the Yato. He's brutal, but not the blood thirsty young-un coming here to mess with Hosen. And while he's hot, he's not topping Tsukuyo. Basically Abuto rides in the backseat, but he's the best person you could have in your backseat.
First off, Abuto is voiced by Houchu Ootsuka, his voice is like a melody that makes my head orgasm.
But really it's the performance, the way Abuto carries himself, the laid back, but responsible attitude always looking to clean up after others, the informal and snarky mannerism of speech, but careful wording.
Even his attitude towards his race is a paradox, he wants his race to embrace its bloodthirsty nature, while keeping as many alive as is possible. He's got so much bullshit, he doesn't get to call Kagura out.
Although his joke about the "outdated" nature sets him perfectly between Kamui, who's full on following the Yato blood, and Kagura who's going against it.
Abuto's main role in the arc is obviously fighting Kagura, bringing out the beast in her, and then becoming her punching bag. The fight itself is great, but realistically any strong enough Yato could've been her foe, so what does Abuto bring to the table? He's standing in the middle. Not just between Kagura and her brother, but even between Kagura and and her "dark side", giving her useful insight from his position. Even when she beats the shit out of him, he never goes all bloodthirsty, instead he sees it as a good thing for the Yato that's worth keeping alive, therefore sticking to his ideals. Basically he's a lot closer to Kagura's ideal than she is.
I love Tsukuyo, she's a good kid, a really good kid, and overall a better character, but in this arc, Abuto stands as my favourite! If this guy was in One Piece, he'd be the only one giving Zoro a challenge for best right hand man.

Hey guys, working at Allied right now, but I am looking at a few postings that are closer to home. I googled about transferring, and one of the posts from a few years ago said to "contact your recruiting office". Does anyone know what this means, or how to contact them? Is this something AUS even still has? Not even sure if I am supposed to "Apply" for the job, or if I already work for them, if there's a different procedure. Thanks in advance.
